Men's Golf Heads Down To North Carolina for Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - Xavier men's golf is getting back on the links this weekend after a short break. The Musketeers are heading down to North Carolina for the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.

The Musketeers played in the Loyola Intercollegiate on February 23-25 and finished seventh out of 17 teams.

XU is bringing six golfers with one competing as an individual. The Musketeer team-lineup will consist of the same five from the Loyola Intercollegiate with Garrett Wood, Imaad Qureshi, Michael Prebles, Nick Frey, and Martin Jaramillo.

Hunter Roberts is competing as an individual for Xavier. This will be Roberts first tournament since the Musketeer Classic last October. He comes in averaging a 76.83 per round and his versus par is +5.33 over six rounds in the fall.

Garrett Wood leads XU into another tournament after he posted an even-par for the Loyola Intercollegiate with a 216 over the 54-hole outing. His even-par placed him in a tie for 13th overall.

Imaad Qureshi carded back-to-back par-or-better rounds to finish only three strokes behind Wood with a 219 (+3). Qureshi ended the Loyola Intercollegiate in a tie for 27th overall.

XU looks to carry over their strong performance from the Loyola Intercollegiate into this weekend.

FORMAT

The men will play 54 holes over the three day event, playing 18 each day.

Friday and Saturday will be a double tee start at 8 a.m. and Sunday will be shotgun start at 9 a.m.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS

11 teams are heading into this weekend's tournament, including: Belmont, Florida Gulf Coast, Morehead State, Davidson, Longwood, Ohio, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Radford, Siena, and Xavier.
