Musketeers face off with Cincinnati tomorrow afternoon
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis came from behind to 18-2 overall on the season with a record tying 16th straight win, topping Middle Tennessee, 4-3, at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Tennis Facility on Xavier's campus on Saturday. The Musketeers remain undefeated at home this season with a win streak that dates back to early February. Xavier's win streak now matches the program-best mark of 16 straight, set in 1995.
"Today our team showed real grit and determination," said freshman Hunter Roper. "Middle Tennessee came out strong in the doubles point but we didn't let that get us down. On every court we fought hard and we found a way to win four matches. This win should give us great confidence. Being able to pull it out even after being down is going to help us tomorrow when we play Cincinnati, and as we continue to prepare for the Big East Conference Tournament. Being apart of this team has been an amazing opportunity and I am excited to see how we continue to grow."
Xavier fell behind 1-0 after MTSU took the doubles point, taking the No. 2 spot, 6-2, over Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruther, and taking the No. 3 spot, 6-2, over Rachel Reichenbach and Hunter Roper.

After going to a tie-breaker in the first set and falling in the second set, Kaitlin Ruether claimed the No. 5 singles point, 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-4.
