CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer put on an offensive clinic in the second half against Northern Kentucky, scoring four times after the break to top the Norse, 4-0, on Thursday evening.

In the first 45 minutes, Xavier held the advantage on the offensive attack, leading 10-0 on shots in the first half, but the Musketeers were unable to find the back of the net, going into halftime in a scoreless draw.

Shortly after the break, Samantha Dewey found what would be the game winner from Grace Brauer, going ahead 1-0. Xavier's offensive attack continued, outshooting the Norse 12-1 in the second period, with the Musketeers breaking through again in the 80th minute, off a rocket from Grace Bahr following a corner kick. Xavier added two more goals in the next four minutes, including a second for Samantha Dewey and the final tally coming from Jackie Richards in the 84th minute.

Xavier's defense posted a third-straight shutout, the fourth of the season, not allowing the Norse an attempt on-goal. Xavier moves to 5-1-1 for 2019, while the Norse fell to 3-4-0.

SCORING RECAP

48' | XAVIER | Grace Brauer served the ball into the box to Samantha Dewey. Dewey tapped the ball to herself shooting past the NKU goalkeeper and a pair of defenders to put Xavier ahead, 1-0.

80' | XAVIER | Off a corner kick from the right side, Carrie Lewis passed the ball low to Grace Bahr towards midfield. Bahr shot to the upper left corner of the goal, sneaking the ball just inside the post go ahead, 2-0.

82' | XAVIER | Rachel Dewey passed to Samantha Dewey deep on the right side, where she dribbled into the box and shot to the center of the goal, putting Xavier ahead, 3-0.

31' | XAVIER | Jackie Richards tracked down a ball from Hayley Jakovich just above the penalty box, shooting high from the left side to set the final score at 4-0 in favor of the Musketeers.

NOTABLE

Samantha Dewey collected four points on the evening with her sixth and seventh goals of the season, bringing her point total to 17. Her tally in the 47th minute was her second game-winner of the season.
Jackie Richards' tally in the 83rd minute was the third of her rookie season, bringing her to six points on the year.
Grace Bahr scored her first of the season, giving her three points in 2019.
Carrie Lewis' picked up an assist on Bahr's goal, her team-high matching third of the season.
Grace Brauer collected her third point of the season, assisting on Samantha Dewey's game-winner.
Rachel Dewey collected her first point of the season, assisting on her sister Samantha's second goal of the evening.
Hayley Jakovich picked up an assist on Jackie Richards' goal.
Xavier's defense limited the Musketeers to just one shot on the evening, and no looks on frame. The Musketeers owned a 22-1 advantage on shots, and a 13-0 advantage on shots on-goal.
Xavier posted a third-straight shutout, a combined effort in frame between Toni Bizzarro, who picked up her third win of the season, and Caroline Welsh, who made her first appearance as a Musketeer. It's Xavier's fourth clean-sheet of the season.
