Xavier prepares for rivalry test against Cincinnati on Thursday
Xavier (3-5) will take the court this Thursday as they face Cincinnati at Cintas Center. Following the match, they will host Bowling Green on Friday.

 Match 1: Lipscomb Highlights |
• Lauren Hanlon had the best match of her collegiate career, notching 19 kills on 32 attacks with a .500 hitting percentage. She added to blocks and a dig on defense to contribute 20 points to the Musketeers' effort.
• Moriah Hopkins was an excellent compliment to Hanlon, as she tallied 13 kills and just one error to record a .400 hitting percentage.
• Libero Alyssa Overbeck led both teams with 18 digs, seven more than any other player.Â
• Ellie Chaffee was also a menace on defense, as she put up five blocks (one solo, four assisted).

 Lipscomb Summary |
• The match started back and forth early. Neither team built more than a two-point lead until Lipscomb broke the 11-11 tie to lead 14-11. Later, the Bisons stretched the lead to 23-13 after a 7-0 run. Xavier didn't quit as they promptly answered with 4-0 run jump started by a Lipscomb service error but there wasn't quite enough time to complete the comeback as Lipscomb took Set One.
• Lauren Hanlon and Moriah Hopkins were aggressive and accurate to start Set Two with three kills each, and Xavier led 10-7. Following a 6-1 Musketeer run, the lead swelled to 13-8. The Bisons never got much closer until the end. Lipscomb fought off a couple of set points but ultimately succombed as Xavier took the set 25-21.
• Hopkins and Hanlon stayed hot to start Set Three, but Xavier fell behind 12-7. Following a timeout to refocus, Xavier went on 4-0 run to pull within one. It was the same deficient late in the set, as Xavier trailed 19-20. They finally completed the long comeback to take lead 21-20. However, Lipscomb won the next four points to get to set point and would survive 26-24.
• Set Four looked to get away from Xavier early as Lipscomb broke out to a 10-2 lead. The lead extended to as much as 10 before a 9-1 XU run brought it back to 16-18. The large early deficient was erased again as the Musketeers took the lead at 20-19. Xavier got to set point this time, but ultimately fell 27-25.

 Match 2: Louisville Highlights |
• Seven Musketeers recorded a kill in the first set, and five of them recorded as many as five kills by the match's conclusion.
• Jayda Carlton was the most effective Xavier atatcker, as she recorded five kills and no errors for a .385 hitting percentage.
• Freshman MaryAnn O'Toole picked up 16 kills, 7 more than any other player, to put her tournament total at 27 digs.

 Louisville Summary |
• There wasn't an advantage to start the match as the teams traded points until 7-7. Xavier went on a brief 3-0 run, but was swiftly answered by Louisville's 8-0 run to take lead at 15-9. At 20-12, Xavier went on 5-0 run to get back into the set, but Louisville took control back with 4-0 run to take set 25-18
• Louisville kicked off Set Two with an astounding 8-0 run. However, Xavier didn't let the set get away, and came back with a 5-0 run to get within 3 at 11-8. Unfortunately, the Cardinals immediately responded again with 7-1 run and finished strong to take set 25-11.
• Set Three began with another solid start for Louisville as they took an 8-2 lead. Xavier stayed within 6 until the score was 16-10, but they never any closer and Louisville won the set 25-16.
