No. 19 Men's Soccer Drops BIG EAST Opener at No. 9 St. John's

Freshman Karsen Henderlong scored his fourth goal of the season on Friday night
QUEENS, N.Y. - No. 19 Xavier men's soccer dropped its BIG EAST opener at No. 9 St. John's, 3-1, on Friday night at Belson Stadium.
The Musketeers moved to 3-2-1 (0-1 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm remained undefeated on the year at 7-0 (1-0 BIG EAST).
13' | XAVIER | Karsen Henderlong scored just outside the net off a ball headed to him by Samson Sergi. The ball was sent to Sergia via a throw-in from Cameron Belle. Sergi and Belle both picked up an assist on the goal.
57' | ST. JOHN'S | Brandon Duarte tied the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 57th minute, heading the ball into the back of the net off a ball played by Niko Petridis off a corner kick.
69' | ST. JOHN'S | Niko Petridis scored his first goal of the match in the 69th minute to put the Red Storm ahead by one goal.
87' | ST. JOHN'S | Niko Petridis scored on a breakaway with three minutes left in regulation to seal the victory.
• Freshman Karsen Henderlong scored his fourth goal of the season on Friday night. He ranks second on the team in total goals.
• Senior Samson Sergi picked up his first assist of the season. The forward now has five career assists. Sophomore Cameron Belle also recorded his first assist of the season, moving his career total to five as well.
• Redshirt-junior Matthew Rosenberg (3-2-1) made nine saves on the night, while allowing three goals.
• Xavier moves to 8-3-2 against United Soccer Coaches Top-10 teams since the start of the 2010.
• Xavier travels to IUPUI on Tuesday, Sept. 24. First touch is set for 7 p.m.
