Swimming Faces Crosstown Rival Cincinnati Friday Night

After both squads defeated Bellermine last weekend, Xavier swimming looks to compete against UC.

CINCINNATI – Men's and women's swimming will compete against cross-town rivals University of Cincinnati on Friday, January 17. The competition is set to start at 5 p.m. and take place at the Keating Aquatic Center. The diving portion of the competition starts 3 p.m., however Xavier will not compete in that portion.

UC will celebrate Senior Day on Friday.
Cincinnati's men rank first in their conference while the women sit at third.
The Bearcats opened the spring portion of the schedule with a sweep of Oakland and Kenyon last weekend.
Cincinnati's men are coming off a second-straight American Athletic Conference title while UC's women finished second in the AAC at the 2019 meet.
At last year's dual, Xavier collected five event wins, including two each for Taylor Hogan, the 100 fly and 200 back, and Emily Conners, who swept the freestyle sprints. Xavier's women fell 209.5-84.50.
On the men's side, Christian Thomas won the 50 free as Xavier's men fell 222.50-71.50.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT

Xavier's women took four of the top five spots in the 400 medley relay to lead off the meet, led by Ali Fort, Alison Herman, Taylor Hoganand Emily Conners' time of 3:53.89.
Clare Bosse led a trio of Musketeers in the top four of the 200 free, winning with a time of 1:56.71.
Xavier took the top four spots in the 100 back, led by Ali Fort's time of 58.41.
Taylor Hogan swept the butterfly events led three Musketeers in the top three spots of the 100 fly and 200 fly.
Emily Conners swept the freestyle sprints with times of 23.97 in the 50 free and 52.02 in the 100 free. Xavier took the top five spots in the 100 free.
Ali Fort's time of 2:08.35 led the 200 back, with Xavier taking the top four spots.
Kelly Harris led three Musketeers in the top three of the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.65.
Emma Kauffeld led Xavier in two events, taking first in the 1000 free and second in the 500 free.
Alison Herman led five Musketeers in the top five spots of the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.56.
Xavier closed out the event by taking the top three spots in the 200 free relay, led by Emily Conners, Erin Merke, Maureen Cummins and Emily Saugstad.
Xavier's women won by a final score of 195-61.

MEN'S LAST TIME OUT

Alex Sironen, Jon Bernard, Brandon Abboud and Christian Thomas led three Xavier squads in the top four of the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:26.97.
Andrew Martin collected a pair of event wins in the freestyle distance events, taking first in the 1000 free and 500 free.
Ben Quon led four Musketeers in the top four of the 200 free with a time of 1:42.44. Quon also collected an event win in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.89.
Andrew Devine took the top spot in the 100 back with a time of 52.74.
Davis Klein led the Musketeers in the 100 breast with third place finish in a time of 1:00.05.
Landon Clark led four Xavier swimmers in the top five of the 200 fly, finishing second with a time of 1:57.90.
Alex Sironen's second place finish in the 50 free led four Musketeers in the top five.
Christian Thomas' took the top spot in the 100 free with a time of 47.52.
Jon Bernard collected the first of two event wins in the 200 breast with a time of 2:04.63. Bernard also took first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.14.
Roark Lundal led Xavier in the 100 fly with a time of 52.70 to place second.
Alex Sironen, Christian Thomas, Roark Lundal and Ethan Wing closed out the meet with a win in the 200 free relay.
Xavier's men won by a final score of 183-79.
