Women's Tennis Returns to Action this Weekend

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's tennis returns to action this weekend on Friday, January 31st and Sunday, February 2nd. The Musketeers will take on Northern Kentucky at 1:30 p.m. at home on Friday. Xavier will then travel to Bloomington in a matchup with Indiana on Sunday at 10 a.m.

THE OPPONENT: NKU |
- NKU finished last season with a 7-21 record and finished 2-6 in road matches.
- The Musketeers defeated NKU 6-1 last season on March 8.
- Xavier is a perfect 11-0 against NKU dating back to 2008.
- NKU has opened the 2020 season with a 2-1 record. The Norse fell to Kentucky in their season opener and have since won two straight matches. Wins came against Dayton and Western Kentucky.

- The Hoosiers ended last season with a 16-11 overall record and went 13-4 at home.
- At the Hoosier Classic in September, the Musketeers picked up 15 singles victories and 13 doubles wins in the tournament hosted by Indiana. Four of those wins came against opponents from IU.
- Xavier defeated Indiana, 4-0, on the road last season on Jan. 26.
- Indiana has started the 2020 season with a 1-1 record. The Hoosiers fell to Alabama in their season opener and defeated UAB on Jan. 25.

- Xavier women's tennis competed in home matches against Mississippi State and Dayton. The Musketeers fell in their first match against Mississippi State, 5-2. In their second match, the Musketeers defeated Dayton, 6-1.
- Xavier began doubles play with a loss in the No. 1 spot as Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas fell, 6-3. Mississippi State secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Anna Letto and Kaitlin Ruether, 6-3. In the No. 2 spot, Emma Antonaki and Alexandra Mikhailuk defeated Rachael Reichenbach and Anna Roggenburk, 6-3.
- In singles play, Kaitlin Ruether fell in the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-1. Ahmeir Kyle then picked up a point for the Musketeers after a 6-1, 7-6 win in the No. 1 spot. Next, in the No. 3 spot, Magda Adaloglou defeated Emily Thomas, 6-2, 6-3.
- In the No. 4 singles spot, Rachael Reichenbach fell, 6-4, 7-5. Anna Letto fell in the No. 6 spot, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Anna Roggenburk ended the match on a positive note for the Musketeers, grabbing a 6-4, 7-6 win in the No. 2 spot.
- Xavier grabbed the doubles point after sweeping the Flyers. In the. No. 1 spot, Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas defeated Dayton, 6-0. Kaitlin Ruether and Natalie Moyer won the No. 2 spot, 6-3, while Anna Roggenburk and Lauren Fitz-Randolph defeated the Flyers, 5-4.
- Roggenburk opened singles play for the Musketeers with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 1 spot. In the No. 2 spot, Emily Thomas gave Xavier their third point with a 6-0, 6-3 win. Next, in the No. 3 spot, Kaitlin Ruether defeated Emily Zargham, 6-2, 6-0.
- In the No. 5 spot, Anna Letto defeated Natalie Allen, 6-2, 6-1, while Natalie Moyer picked up a 7-6 (0-5), 7-5 win in the No. 4 spot. Dayton's only point came in the No. 6 spot, as they defeated Lauren Fitz-Randolph, 6-2, 6-4.
