Xavier Announces Attendance Plans For The Start Of Basketball Seasons

Men’s and women’s hoops will begin with a maximum of 300 fans in attendance for home games.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier Athletics announced today that the men's and women's basketball seasons will begin with a maximum of 300 fans in attendance for home games at Cintas Center. The State of Ohio's current mandates permit up to 300 spectators for any event held in an indoor venue of Cintas Center's size.
"We have been working diligently with our campus, as well as local and state governments on a variance request that would increase our attendance to around 20% capacity, or roughly 2,000 fans. We are confident that we can successfully execute an event of that size while keeping everyone on the floor and in the stands safe. While we have been given no timetable as to when, or if, such a variance will be granted, we will continue to work on behalf of Xavier Nation to open up Cintas Center to as many fans as possible," said Greg Christopher, Vice President for Administration and Director of Athletics.
The health and safety of student-athletes, coaching staff, event staff and fans is of the highest priority. To those ends, Xavier has taken the following measures to maintain a safe environment for everyone:

The health and safety of student-athletes, coaching staff, event staff and fans is of the highest priority. To those ends, Xavier has taken the following measures to maintain a safe environment for everyone:
- Masks will be required of all staff and fans at all times when inside Cintas Center, except when actively eating or drinking.
- All fans will be seated in blocks of 2-4 seats with their party. Each block of seats will be distanced a minimum of 6 feet from others.
- No courtside seating will be available.
- The first 6 rows of the seating bowl will not be sold to maintain a minimum 12 foot perimeter between the participants and fans.
- Social distancing measures will be put in place and enforced around the entrances, concessions stands and restrooms.
