Men's Basketball Closes Out Five-Game Homestand On Wednesday Night

Musketeers host Tennessee Tech at Cintas Center.
CINCINNATI – The Xavier Musketeers, 4-0, shoot to complete a 5-0 season-opening homestand on Wednesday night as they host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 0-2, out of the Ohio Valley Conference. This is the first-ever meeting between Xavier and Tennessee Tech.
Xavier is coming off a third straight close victory, a 99-96 overtime win over Eastern Kentucky on Monday. EKU is also a member of the OVC.

• Xavier has four players averaging in double figures in scoring.
• Xavier senior Paul Scruggs, a member of this week's BIG EAST Honor Roll and the MVP of last week's Xavier Invitational, leads the team in assists at 7.0 apg. and is third in scoring at 12.0 ppg.
• Xavier's Paul Scruggs became the 57th member of XU's 1,000 Point Club during the Eastern Kentucky game. Fellow senior Jason Carter has scored 1,090 collegiate points at XU and Ohio, including an XU career-high 20 vs. Eastern Kentucky.
• Xavier senior Jason Carter, who leads the team in rebounding at 10.3 rpg., has grabbed double-figure rebound totals in each of the last three games.
• Xavier sophomore Zach Freemantle, who was named to the Xavier Invitational All-Tournament Team, leads the team in scoring at 18.3 ppg. and is second in rebounding at 9.0 rpg.
• Xavier sophomore KyKy Tandy, who was named to the Xavier Invitational All-Tournament Team, scored a career-high 24 points vs. Toledo and hit a career-high six 3-pointers vs. Oakland. He is second on the team in scoring at 16.0 ppg.
• Xavier freshman Dwon Odom, who started the first four games, is second on the team in assists at 5.0 apg. Odom hit what proved to be the game-winning shot vs. Bradley with less than four seconds left.
• Xavier is opening the 2020-21 season with 12 games in 29 days. Each of its first seven games are in Cincinnati, including six games at Cintas Center and Dec. 6 at Cincinnati. This game is the finale of a season-opening five-game homestand.
