Naji Marshall and Tyrique Jones post double-doubles
NEWARK, N.J. – Xavier men's basketball snapped No.10 Seton Hall's 10-game winning streak on Saturday morning, handing the Pirate's their first BIG EAST loss of the season. Naji Marshall and Tyrique Jones led all scorers with 19 points each.
Tyrique Jones collected his 13th double-double of the season with 19 points and 18 boards, as well as four blocks. Naji Marshall added a season-high 10 rebounds to his 19 points and had four assists. KyKy Tandy also scored in double-figures with 14 points on 5-7 from shooting.
The Musketeers improve to 14-8 over all and 3-6 in BIG EAST action.

FIRST HALF |
- Seton Hall entered the scoring column first, with a jumper from the elbow. On the next possession, Naji Marshall drained a contested three, 3-2 at 18:07.
- Marshall's basket started a 7-0 run with offensive boards put backs from Tyrique Jones and Jason Carter, to put Xavier ahead 7-2 with 16:34 remaining.
- Tyrique Jones dominated the offensive boards after a Xavier missed three pointer that turned into a monster dunk for the senior.
- Naji Marshall found KyKy Tandy on the left wing, connecting for a three pointer to make it 17-2 with 13:35 remaining. A Paul Scruggs free throw made the run 18-0.
- Xavier had held Seton Hall scoreless for six minutes before Sandro Mamukelashvili connected for a jumper.
- KyKy Tandy responded with jumper to bring Xavier's lead back to 16, 20-4 with 12:37 remaining.
- Out of the media, Jason Carter connected on a step-back fadeaway at the elbow, beating the shot clock expired, 24-6 with 10:58 left in the half.
- In transition, Naji Marshall found Zach Freemantle with a behind the back pass for two after another goal tending violation against Seton Hall.
- Quentin Goodin gave Xavier its biggest lead thus far, knocking in a jumper and forcing a Seton Hall timeout. The Musketeers led 28-6 with 8:28 left. Out of the timeout, Goodin connected for an under the basket layup for the Musketeers.
- Seton Hall connected for a quick seven points, to bring their deficit 30-13 with 6:03 left in the half.
- Naji Marshall ended a Pirate 10-1 run, with a layup off the offensive board.
- Naji Marshall pushed Xavier's lead back to 15, with a jumper at 1:25 mark, 35-20.
- Xavier entered the locker room up 35-23 at the break.
- The Musketeers held to Pirates shooting just 24 percent from the field and 15 percent from beyond the arc during the first 20 minutes.
- Xavier dominated on the glass 30-9, with 21 of them coming on the defensive end. Tyrique Jones led the first half with eight board while Jason Carter added six and Naji Marshall five.
- Naji Marshall led all scorers at the break with nine points.

- Seton Hall opened the half on a three-point play after a Zach Freemantle foul.
- Naji Marshall responded draining a jumper off the dribble to put Xavier's lead back to 11, 37-26.
- Paul Scruggs connected for a big-time three pointer as the shot clocked expired, 41-29 with 17:34 remaining.
- On the next possession, Tyrique Jones had a drop-step spinner to connect for a layup for the Musketeers.
- KyKy Tandy found Naji Marshall for the three-pointer, to extend Xavier's lead to 15.
- Seton Hall's Quincy McKnight responded with a three-pointer, a Seton Hall timeout forced the media. The Musketeers led 46-34 with 16:17 left in regulation.
- After a bad pass by Seton Hall, Naji Marshall connected for the steal and the and-one bucket on the fast break. Marshall connected on the free throw for the three-point play to give Xavier a 51-29 edge at the 13:35 mark.
- Tyrique Jones added another offensive board and tip-in to put Xavier up 12.
- Myles Powell connected on a baseline layup to bring Seton Hall within eight. On the next possession, Tyrique Jones dunked for two to bring Xavier's lead bat to double-digits.
- Tyrique Jones added four more points for Xavier, to put the Musketeers up 12, 59-47 with 8:58 left,
- KyKy Tandy connected on two free throws after being fouled on the shot attempted. Then, Tandy linked for a three-point shot from wide open on the assist from Jason Carter cross-court. This was a part of Xavier's 7-0 run over 2:35.
- Xavier led Seton Hall 67-53 into the final media with 3:53 left in regulation.
- KyKy Tandy added four points for the Musketeers to put them up 72-58 with 54 seconds remaining.
- Jason Carter sealed the victory with a driving layup to put the final score at 74-62.
- Tyrique Jones had 14 points in the half, shooting 7-8 from the field and grabbed 10 boards in the 20 minutes.

- Tyrique Jones' 19 point came on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor. In addition to 18 rebounds, Jones also added four blocks for the Musketeers.
- Naji Marshall scored 19 on 7-of-12 shooting, and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
- Paul Scruggs finished the game contributing seven points and four rebounds.
- Jason Carter added six points with seven boards.
- Quentin Goodin and Zach Freemantle combined for nine points and five rebounds.
- Xavier dominated on the glass, out rebounding Seton Hall 51-22, a team high this season. 14 of the boards came on the offensive glass which converted into 18 second chance points. Xavier grabbed an impressive 37 defensive rebounds, leaving the Pirates scoreless in the second chance opportunity category.
- Xavier held Seton Hall shooting only 22 percent from three-point range, 6-27.
- 36 of Xavier's points came from in the paint.
- Xavier shot 55 percent from the field on 30-55 shooting.
- Xavier led for over 38 minutes in the game, with as much as a 24-point lead.
