Men's Basketball Heads To Washington For A Sunday BIG EAST Showdown With Georgetown On CBS

Musketeers play three games in eight days to close out the regular season.
CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 18-10 overall and 7-8 in the BIG EAST Conference, hit the road this weekend for a Sunday afternoon BIG EAST Conference matchup with the Georgetown University Hoyas, 15-13 overall and 5-10 in the BIG EAST. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS, including Local 12 in Cincinnati.
Xavier, which has won five of its last seven BIG EAST games, has a chance on Sunday to even its league record to 8-8. XU plays three games in eight days to close out the regular season, including road games at Georgetown on Sunday, March 1 and at Providence on Wednesday, March 4 before returning home for Senior Night at Cintas Center vs. Butler on Saturday, March 7.

• Xavier, which has won five of its last seven BIG EAST games, is shooting to even its league record at 8-8 with a win at Georgetown. XU is coming off a 78-67 win over DePaul on Feb. 25 on the strength of a season-high 12 3-pointers.
• Xavier is ranked 18th in the nation in KenPom defensive efficiency (90.8). XU is ranked first in the BIG EAST Conference and 23rd in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage defense at 29.3 percent.
• Xavier junior Naji Marshall and seniors Quentin Goodin and Tyrique Jones are all members of the Xavier 1,000 Point Club, the first time since 2011-12 that XU has had three active club members on the team. In addition, junior Jason Carter has scored over 1,000 collegiate points, which includes 836 points scored at Ohio.
• Xavier's Naji Marshall is the only BIG EAST Conference player that is ranked in the top 10 in the league in scoring (fourth at 16.3 ppg.), rebounding (10th at 6.1 rpg.), assists (seventh at 3.9 apg.) and steals (10th at 1.3 spg.). Marshall leads the team in
scoring, assists and steals and is second in rebounding.
• Xavier senior Tyrique Jones leads the BIG EAST and is third in the nation in double-doubles with 19. Jones is on pace to be the first XU player to average a double-double for a season since 2003 National Player of the Year David West.
• Xavier's Tyrique Jones leads the BIG EAST (ninth in the nation) in rebounding at 11.1 rpg. Jones leads the BIG EAST (third in the nation) in offensive rebounding at 4.3 rpg. He is ninth on XU's all-time rebounding list with 832 career rebounds.
• Xavier's Quentin Goodin has 538 career assists, which is fourth on Xavier's all-time assist chart and just 12 assists shy of third-place Tu Holloway (2008-12).
