Men's Basketball Hits The Road For A Wednesday BIG EAST Battle At Providence

Musketeers have won four of their last five BIG EAST road games.
CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 19-10 overall and 8-8 in the BIG EAST Conference, are back on the road for a Wednesday showdown with BIG EAST rival Providence on Wednesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Providence College Friars, 17-12 overall and 10-6 in the BIG EAST, have won four straight games, including a 58-54 win over Villanova in Philadelphia on Saturday.<br />

Xavier has won six of its last eight BIG EAST games, including four road wins. XU, which evened its league record at 8-8 with the win at Georgetown on Sunday, is looking for its 20<sup>th</sup> wins of the season. XU is one win shy of its 13th 20-win season in 15 years and 21st 20-win season in 24 years.<br />

• Xavier junior <strong>Naji Marshall</strong> has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll by the league office after averaging 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in Xavier victories over DePaul on Feb. 25 and at Georgetown on March 1. Marshall hit the game-winning 3-pointer with four seconds left at Georgetown.<br />
• Xavier's <strong>Naji Marshall</strong> is the only BIG EAST Conference player that is ranked in the top 10 in the league in scoring (fourth at 16.5 ppg.), rebounding (10th at 6.3 rpg.) and assists (seventh at 3.9 apg.). He leads the team in scoring and assists and is second in rebounding. He also leads the team in steals (12th in BIG EAST at 1.3 spg.).<br />
• Xavier senior <strong>Tyrique Jones</strong> leads the BIG EAST and is third in the nation in double-doubles with 20, which is tied for the third-highest single-season total in XU history and just four shy of the school record (24 by <strong>Tyrone Hill</strong> in 1989-90). Jones is on pace to be the first XU player to average a double-double for a season since 2003 National Player of the Year <strong>David West</strong>.<br />
• Xavier's <strong>Tyrique Jones</strong> leads the BIG EAST (ninth in the nation) in rebounding at 11.2 rpg. Jones leads the BIG EAST (second in the nation) in offensive rebounding at 4.4 rpg. He is ninth on XU's all-time rebounding list with 845 career rebounds.<br />
• Xavier freshman <strong>KyKy Tandy</strong> has averaged 11.6 ppg. for XU's eight BIG EAST wins.<br />
• Xavier has graduated 109 straight men's basketball seniors.<br />
