Xavier Closes Non-Conference Action with 75-57 Win Over Bears

CINCINNATI -Â Xavier men's basketball closed non-conference action with a 75-57 win over Missouri State at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers have now won five straight games, improving to 8-3 on the year. The Bears dropped to 4-5.
Xavier opens BIG EAST action on Wednesday, Dec. 17 vs Creighton. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. with the game being aired nationally on FS1.

NOTABLES
- The game featured 13 lead changes and four times. Xavier led for 27:32 in the game, while the Bears led for 6:58.
- Missouri State led, 28-27, with 1:34Â left in the first half. Xavier closed the frame on a 4-0 run to take a three-point lead into the locker room (31-28).
- Xavier opened the second half on a 25-7 run on 9-for-14 shooting, taking its first 20-point advantage of the game (56-35) with 11:01 on the clock. The Musketeers outscored Missouri State, 44-29, in the second half behind a .516 field-goal percentage (16-for-31) to pull away for the 18-point victory.
- Filip Borovićanin scored 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting with three, 3-pointers. He added a team-high 11 rebounds and dished out a game and career-high eight assists. The forward now has three career double-doubles.
- Jovan Milićević scored a team-high 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting. He added seven rebounds, two assists and one steal.
- Tre Carroll chipped in 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. All Wright finished with 10 points, three assists, one block and one steal.
- Xavier had a season-high eight blocks to go along with eight steals. The eight blocks are the most in a game for the Musketeers since Dec. 31, 2024 vs Seton Hall (nine blocks; W, 94-72).
- Xavier posted a .431 field-goal percentage (28-for-65) and went 12-for-30 from behind the arc. Xavier was also 7-for-12 from the foul line.
- Xavier has now made 10 or more three pointers in a game seven times this season. The Musketeers are averaging 10.5 three pointers per game, ranking second in the BIG EAST and 39th in the NCAA.
- Xavier held a 17-12 advantage in points off turnovers and won the battle on the glass, 37-36. The Musketeers also scored nine more fastbreak points (15-6).
- Missouri State scored one more bench point (16-15) than Xavier and held a 36-32 advantage in points in the paint.
- The Musketeers also scored four more second-chance points (10-6).
- Missouri State was held to a .396 field-goal percentage (21-for-53), its second-lowest percentage of the season. The Bears were also 3-for-14 from behind the arc and 12-for-15 from the foul line.
- Keith Palek III posted a double-double for the Bears, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He also dished out five assists.
