21 Musketeers Earn All-BIG EAST Honors for Swimming

NEW YORK - Following the four-day BIG EAST Championships in East Meadow, N.Y., 21 Musketeers from Xavier swimming were named All-BIG EAST for 2020. All-BIG EAST honors are awarded to the top three finishers in each championship event at the conference meet.

Xavier's men, which finished first for the program's fifth BIG EAST Championship in seven years, had 10 named All-BIG EAST, including eight Musketeers who earned the honor in multiple events. Brandon Abboud, Alex Sironen and Christian Thomas each earned the honor in five events, and Andrew Martin earned All-BIG EAST in four events, including a team-high three individual events after leading the Musketeers in the distance freestyle with three school record performances in the 200 free, 500 free and 1,650 free, capping off his meet with the BIG EAST Title and an NCAA B-Cut time in the mile.

Emily Conners led 11 all-conference honorees with All-Conference performances in seven events after finishing second in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free as an individual. Conners also took part in four relays, including Xavier's wins in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Six other Musketeers earned the honor in multiple events, including Emily Saugstad who took part in four relays for the Musketeers, and Abigail Garner who placed third in the 200 free, and then helped the Musketeers to a tie for first in the 400 free relay as well as a second place finish in the 800 free relay.
