ORLANDO - Xavier men's tennis opened Spring Break play against Creighton, falling 5-2 on Monday afternoon. Xavier will continue play in Orlando on Thursday against Appalachian State at the USTA National Campus

THE MATCH

Srdan Pejic and Shashank Reddy opened up doubles play with a 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot, but Creighton took the win in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take the doubles point.

Creighton jumped out to a 3-0 lead with wins over Michael Lee in the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 6-3, and over Aaron Thompson in the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 6-4.

Srdan Pejic made it 3-1 by coming back after falling in set one of No. 2 singles to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Creighton secured the match with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 wn over Matthew Graft in No. 3.

CU picked up a fifth point with a 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win over Shashank Reddy in the No. 4 spot.

Xavier secured the final point of the match with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1) win for Brett Winters in the No. 1 spot.
