Swimming Travels to Denison for Final Dual of the Fall

Meet kicks off at 1:00 p.m. at the Trumbull Aquatics Center
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will close out the dual portion of the fall schedule on Saturday, Oct. 30, traveling to Granville, Ohio to face the Big Red of Denison, with events set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
The meet will be live streamed through the North Coast Network.

  OPPONENT NOTES |
- The meet with the Musketeers is the first dual of the season for the Big Red, who opened the season at the Akron Zips Classic, which the Musketeers also competed in. Denison's women finished second at the four team-meet, while the men finished first of three teams.
- The Big Red did not compete in a conference meet in 2021, but the women claimed the 2020 NCACÂ Championship, and the men finished second.
- Last February, the Musketeers picked nine combined event wins, but fell on both sides. Kali Fischer won a pair of events on the women's side, while Ben Quon, Andrew Martin and Roark Lundal won events on the men's side.

  WEEKLY AWARDS |
- Following last weekend's meet at Oakland, Xavier swimming swept the BIG EAST Weekly Awards, with Alexis Worrall taking the honor on the women's side and Andrew Martin picking it up on the men's side.
- Worrall, a freshman from Victor, N.Y., led the Xavier women with a pair of first place finishes, sweeping the freestyle sprints in the Musketeers dual at Oakland. Her first-place time of 24.09 in the 50 free is the second fastest time in the BIG EAST so far this season, while her winning-time of 52.29 in the 100 free is tied for third fastest in the league so far this season. She also set a personal-best time of 1:52.80 in the 200 free, placing fourth.
- Martin, a junior from Middleton, Wis., set the best times this season in the distance freestyle events by a BIG EAST competitor at Oakland over the weekend. Martin took second in the 500 free with a league-best time of 4:37.13, then collected a first place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 9:35.86. Martin also swam the freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay which set a BIG EAST-best time of 1:32.50, swimming a 20.49 split.

- Xavier men's swimming collected four first place finishes in dual action at Oakland last Saturday at the Oakland University Natatorium.
- Xavier's men opened up the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay for Christian Thomas, Jon Bernard, Caleb Petranchuk and Andrew Martin with a time of 1:32.50.
- Andrew Martin took the top spot in the 1000 free with a time of 9:35.86. Martin also led Xavier in the 500 free, finishing second with a time of 4:37.13.
- Nathan Wall took the top spot in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.91. Wall also led Xavier in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.33.
- Xavier had three top-four finishers in the 100 back, led by Ben Quon's second place time of 51.26. Andrew Devine placed third and Nick Mahoney finished fourth.
- Jon Bernard took first 200 IM with a time 1:53.24. Bernard also collected a pair of second place finishes, in the 100 breast with a time of 56.84, and the 200 back with a time of 1:50.82.
- Caleb Petranchuk's time of 1:56.11 led Xavier in the 200 fly, placing second.
- Christian Thomas led Xavier in the freestyle sprints, taking first in the 50 free with a time of 21.01 and second in the 100 free with a time of 46.21.
- Joey Mullen's time of 51.59 led Xavier in the 100 fly, placing third.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a second place finish Christian Thomas, Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Wing and Andrew Martin, finishing in 3:05.15.
- Xavier's men fell by a score of 155-107.

- Xavier women's swimming collected four first place finishes in dual action at Oakland last Saturday at the Oakland University Natatorium.
- The Musketeers opened the first session with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay for Reese Turner, Lydia Schaeffer, Hannah Pugh and Kali Fischer with a time of 1:45.84.
- Emma Swabb took first in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:39.30.
- Kali Fischer won the 200 free, finishing in 1:51.75, and also led Xavier in the 200 back with a second place finish, in 2:03.66, as well as the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.71 to place third.
- Reese Turner picked up a second place finish in the 100 back with a time of 57.80. She was followed in by Hannah Pugh in third and Brooke Atkins in fourth.
- Lydia Schaeffer led Xavier in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.51 to finish second and in the 200 breast, taking third with a time of 2:28.01.
- Kiara Anchrum led Xavier in the butterfly, taking second in the 100 fly with a time of 56.87 and in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.44.
- Alexis Worrall took the top spot in the free style sprints, winning the 50 free with a time of 24.09 and the 100 free in 52.29.
- Erin Ritz's time of 5:21.65 led Xavier in the 500 free.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a second place finish in the 400 free relay for Clara Keiser, Clare Bosse, Molly Dynda, Alexis Worrall with a time of 3:33.62.
- Xavier fell by a score of 157-105 on the women's side.

 UPCOMING SCHEDULE |
- Xavier will travel to Cleveland State for the CSU Magnus Cup, running from Nov. 18-20 at the Busbey Natatorium.
- The Magnus Cup is the final team event of the Fall semester, where Xavier will compete against multiple teams in a three-day event.
- Xavier last attended the Magnus Cup in November 2019, where the Musketeers women took the top spot, while the Xavier men finished second.

- The Musketeer men are looking for a four-peat in the BIG EAST after winning their third-straight BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship in Spring 2021.
- Xavier collected 11 event championships and had all-conference finishes in 17 events, eventually winning by over 170 points over second-place Villanova. Xavier won 11 of 18 racing events, including four of five relays.
- Returners Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas each won three individual gold medals. Following the meet, Andrew Martin was named Most Outstanding swimmer on the men's side.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Jon Bernard, Andrew Devine, Davis Klein, Roark Lundal, Joey Mullen, Jack Parker, Ben Quon, Cameron Weese, Brett Wilson and Ethan Wing also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier added a sophomore transfer from Michigan State in Michael Benington, as well as a freshman class of Gage Hannewyk, Adam Lamping, Caleb Petranchuk, Ethan Saunders and Nathan Wall.

- The Musketeer women return seven who earned All-Conference honors for last season's third-place finishing team at the BIG EAST meet.
- Â Among the returners are Brooke Atkins and Kali Fischer who were part of the BIG EAST Championship winning 200 medley relay.Â
- Lydia Schaeffer, Clara Keiser, Emma Swabb, Erin Merke and Julianne Libler also picked up all-conference honors.
- Xavier's women added a six-person freshman class in Maddie Agans, Kiara Anchrum, Molly Dynda, Mary Sweetman, Reese Turner, Amy Van Son and Alexis Worrall.
