Ahmeir Kyle Picks Up Opening Round Win in ITA All-American Championship

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Xavier women's tennis standout Ahmeir Kyle opened up her fall season with a victory, picking up a win in the round of 64 in the Open Singles qualifying bracket of the ITA Women's All-American Championship at the LTP Tennis Club in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
In Kyle's first fall tournament action, she faced off against Madeline Lamoreaux of the Universitiy of Utah on Monday morning, advancing out of the round of 64 with a three-set win. Kyle took the opening set, 6-4, before Lamoreaux responded with a 6-4 win in set two. Kyle took the deciding set, 6-3, to earn a spot in the round of 32.
In the round of 32, Kyle faced Sabina Machalova of the University of Mississippi, who had topped Evgeniya Levashova of Central Florida, 7-6 (2), 6-1, on Monday morning. Machalova took the second round win over Kyle, 6-3, 6-2, on Monday afternoon.
Kyle, who was the first Musketeer to earn a bid to the NCAA DI Singles Championships last spring, entered the season ranked in the ITA's Top 100 to earn a spot in the in the Women's Open Singles qualifying rounds.
