
Women's Tennis to Co-Host UC/Xavier Invite This Weekend

Matches start Saturday at 9 AM, continue into Sunday beginning at 8 AM
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis will co-host the UC/Xavier Invite this weekend, hosting teams from around the region for two days of tennis across both campuses.
Following this weekend's tournament, the Musketeers will be back in action at the ITA Fall Regional, running from Oct. 21 to Oct. 25 at Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

- Matches are set to being on Saturday, October 9 at 9:00 a.m. and run through Sunday, October 10. Sunday's matches will begin at 8:00 a.m.
- Matches will be held at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility, located on the northern edge of Xavier's campus and at UC's Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.
- Natalie Moyer, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Anna Smith will compete from Xavier. All of Xavier's matches will be at the Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility.Â

- Ahmeir Kyle opened up her fall season with a victory on Monday, picking up a win in the round of 64 in the Open Singles qualifying bracket of the ITA Women's All-American Championship at the LTP Tennis Club in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
- In Kyle's first fall tournament action, she faced off against Madeline Lamoreaux of the University of Utah on Monday morning, advancing out of the round of 64 with a three-set win. Kyle took the opening set, 6-4, before Lamoreaux responded with a 6-4 win in set two. Kyle took the deciding set, 6-3, to earn a spot in the round of 32.
- In the round of 32, Kyle faced Sabina Machalova of the University of Mississippi, who had topped Evgeniya Levashova of Central Florida, 7-6 (2), 6-1, on Monday morning. Machalova took the second round win over Kyle, 6-3, 6-2, on Monday afternoon.
- The rest of the Musketeers opened the Fall tournament schedule at the Xavier Invitational, collecting 13 singles wins and 10 doubles wins against Dayton, Memphis and Cincinnati. The Musketeers also finishes the blind dual with the double MVP award for the pair of Emily Thomas and Kat Lyman.
- Xavier went 13-9 in singles play, with Emily Thomas picking up singles wins in all three matches, an Natalie Moyer, Blessing Nwaozuzu, Anna Roggenburk and Anna Smith all finishing with multiple wins as well.
- In doubles action, Xavier went 10-2, with Kat Lyman and Emily Thomas going 3-0 in the No. 2 spot to earn the tournament's doubles MVP. Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk finished 2-1 in the No. 1 spot and Bella Kirby and Natalie Moyer also paired up to go 2-1 on the weekend.
- Against Dayton, Xavier went 5-2 in singles action and 4-0 in doubles. The Musketeers picked up a 5-3 record against Cincinnati for the tournament, going 3-1 in doubles play. Against Memphis, the Tigers held a 4-3 advantage on singles matches, but Xavier went 3-1Â in doubles play

- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.Â
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
