Xavier's Comeback Falls Short, Has Setback Against St. John's

CINCINNATI, OH.  - Following back-to-back five-set matches, Xavier's attempt at a third came up just short. St. John's escaped Cincinnati in a very tight match, winning two sets with 26 points.
Xavier is now 4-2 in the BIG EAST and 9-7Â overall, while St. John's gets back to 3-3 in the BIG EAST and 12-8 on the season.Â

• Delaney Hogan had a team-high 12 kills at a .320 hit percentage. She also had a block and an assist.
• Ellie Chaffee had another impressive night, especially on defense. She matched a Xavier season-high with eight blocks (one solo), and she had eight kills at a team-high .389 hit percentage, too.
• Five other Musketeers had at least five kills, MaryAnn O'Toole and Carrigan O'Reilly each had seven, Kelly Franxman had six and Senior Moriah Hopkins and Freshman Emma Grace each had five.
• Stevie Wolf was tonight's dig leader with 13, just ahead of Alyssa Overbeck and Emma Grace who both had 11.

• Xavier starts a three-match week with a road trip to Dayton, before coming back home to play Georgetown and Villanova on Oct. 15/16.Â
