Men's Basketball Opens Regular Season-Ending Two-Game Road Trip At Georgetown

This is the first and only meeting between Xavier and Georgetown this season.
CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 13-5 overall and 6-5 in the BIG EAST Conference, play their final two regular season games on the road. The first stop is Washington, D.C., to take on the Georgetown University Hoyas on Tuesday night. XU and Georgetown will be playing for the first time this season. The Jan. 26 game at Cintas Center was wiped out by Covid-19 issues.
XU is coming off a 77-69 win over No. 13/11 Creighton on Saturday.

• Xavier, 13-5 overall and 6-5 in the BIG EAST Conference, won its final home game of the season with a 77-69 win over then-No. 13/11 Creighton on Saturday. XU plays at Georgetown (3-2) and at Marquette (3-6) to end the season.
• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in assists (fourth in the nation at 18.3 apg.). Xavier is second in the BIG EAST (fifth in the nation) in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.60, second in field goal percentage (48th in the nation at .469) and field goal percentage defense (49th in the nation at .409).
• Xavier senior Paul Scruggs leads the BIG EAST and is 14th in the nation in assists at 6.1 apg., including a career-high 12 assists vs. UConn on Feb. 13. He is second on the team and tied for 11th in the BIG EAST in scoring (14.4 ppg.) and is third in the BIG EAST (49th in the nation) in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.29.
• Xavier's Paul Scruggs earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll after averaging 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in Xavier's two games this past week (Providence and Creighton).
• Xavier sophomore Zach Freemantle has posted five straight double-doubles (a team-high seven for the season), including 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Creighton on Saturday. The streak also includes career highs and game highs for scoring (30) and rebounding (15) vs. UConn on Feb. 13.
• Xavier's Zach Freemantle leads the team in scoring at 16.9 ppg. (fourth in the BIG EAST) and leads the entire BIG EAST Conference in rebounding (37th in the nation at 9.0 rpg.). He also leads XU in field goal percentage (seventh in the BIG EAST at .532).
• Xavier freshman Colby Jones has started three straight games (eight overall). His impact on the team shows up in a variety of ways, including an impressive +25 in the +/- stat analysis for the Creighton win.
• Xavier freshman Dwon Odom is first in the BIG EAST and ninth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.53. Odom is second on the team and 12th in the BIG EAST in assists at 3.3 apg. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists for XU's two games this past week, while shooting 68.8 percent (11-16) from the field.
