Wildcats top Musketeers, 92-89, at Cintas Center on Tuesday night

CINCINNATI - Tre Carroll scored a game-high 28 points in Tuesday's 92-89 overtime loss vs Villanova at Cintas Center.

The Musketeers moved to 13-13 (5-10 BIG EAST), while the Wildcats improved to 21-5 (12-3 BIG EAST).

Xavier opens a two-game road trip at Butler on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tip-off is slated for 1:30 p.m. from Hinkle Fieldhouse with the game being aired nationally on TNT and truTV.

NOTABLES

The game featured six ties and six lead changes with neither team leading by more than nine points in the game. Villanova led for 30:32, while Xavier led for 9:03.
Villanova led by four points (81-77) with 1:27 left in regulation before the Musketeers went on a 4-0 run capped by a Tre Carroll putback with four seconds on the clock.
The Wildcats outscored Xavier, 11-8, in overtime. Tre Carroll hit a three pointer to get within one point (90-89) with nine seconds on the clock. Villanova went 2-for-4 from the foul line, and took advantage of Xavier turnover in the closing seconds, to escape with the three-point win (92-89).
Tre Carroll scored 28 points on 11-for-14 shooting. He added 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. The forward now has two double-doubles this season.
Jovan Milićević added 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting. The forward added nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
Malik Messina-Moore finished with 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Filip Borovićanin posted six assists, three rebounds, three points and one steal.
Roddie Anderson III had seven rebounds, five points and two assists. Isaiah Walker chipped in nine points and three rebounds.
Xavier posted a .507 field-goal percentage (34-for-67) and went 10-for-23 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 11-for-13 from the foul line. Xavier has made 10 or more three pointers in a game 13 times this season.
The Musketeers won the battle on the glass, 42-36, and scored two more second-chance points (14-12).
Villanova held a 22-11 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored eight more bench points (40-32). The Wildcats also scored one more bench point (19-18). Both teams scored 13 fastbreak points.
Villanova posted a .440 field-goal percentage (33-for-75) and went 12-for-34 from three-point range. The Wildcats were also 14-for-22 from the foul line.
Acaden Lewis led five Wildcats in double figures with 21 points. Duke Brennan pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 10 points.
Xavier committed 16 turnovers, the third most in a game this season.
Xavier had 26 assists, tied for the third most in a game this season.
