Xavier returns to action next Friday against Dayton

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis fell in its second match of the weekend, a 7-0 set back to Ball State in the second meeting with the Cardinals this season.

Xavier moves to 2-4 on the season, and returns to action on Friday, March 12, hosting Dayton.

THE MATCH

Ball State picked up the doubles point, taking a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot over Srdan Pejic and Shashank Reddy, the first loss of the season for the pair. BSU then secured the point with a 7-5 win on the No. 1 court over Brett Winters and Cambell Nakayama. Jan Vrba and Matthew Graft were in a 6-6 draw on court three when the point was decided.

BSU picked up a second point on the No. 5 singles court, taking a 6-3, 6-3 decision against Aaron Thompson. The Cardinals made it 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-4 win on the No. 2 court over Srdan Pejic, and secured the win with a fourth point on the No. 3 court, a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over Matthew Graft.

Ball State closed out the match with three set wins on the final three courts, taking the No. 1 spot 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 against Brett Winters, the No. 6 spot, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9 against Shashank Reddy, and the No. 4 court, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 against Cambell Nakayama.
