CINCINNATI - Xavier women's golf travels to the BIG EAST Championships on April 23-25. The three-day tournament is being held at the Club at Gateway in Fort Myers, Fla.

The women's championship consists of six schools: Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall and Xavier. The BIG EAST Championships will be the first tournament of the season for Georgetown.

The last BIG EAST golf championships were held in 2019 with the Musketeers capturing the team title.

LAST TIME OUT

• Xavier competed at the Indiana Invitational on April 17-18. The two-day tournament was held at The Pfau Course at Indiana University.

• The Musketeers placed 13th out of 16 teams, shooting a 54-hole total of 908 (+44). Kent State won the team title as the Golden Flashes hit eight-under-par (856).

• Freshman Emma McMyler placed tied for 29th to lead the Musketeers, posting a score of 224 (+8).

2019 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS

• Xavier won the last BIG EAST Championships in 2019, posting a 54-hole score of 902 (+38). The Musketeers won the tournament by 14 strokes and claimed the program's first BIG EAST Title.

• Graduate student Mikayla Fitzpatrick won the individual at the 2019 BIG EAST Championships and was named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Year. The Phoenix, Ariz., native advanced to the NCAA Championships as an individual qualifier.

• All told, Xavier will have three members of the 2019 BIG EAST Championship Team in the lineup this weekend: Mikayla Fitzpatrick, Andie Shukow and Morgan Tinsley.

NOTABLES

• The two other Musketeers in the lineup are freshman Emma McMyler and junior Abby Kiefer. Both players will be competing in their first BIG EAST Championship.

• Abby Kiefer is having her best season as a Musketeer, posting an average score of 76.64 in five tournaments this spring. She also recorded her highest finish as a Musketeer, placing tied for seventh at the Georgia State Invitational on March 30.

• Emma McMyler is the highest ranked player in the BIG EAST this season, averaging a score of 73.50 through five tournaments. She currently ranks 115th nationally (via GolfStat rankings). The San Antonio, Texas native has been the top finisher in all of Xavier's tournaments this spring and was named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week on March 17.

• All told, Xavier has four players ranked in the top-10 of the BIG EAST scoring standings: Emma McMyler (1st - 73.50), Mikayla Fitzpatrick (5th - 76.00), Andie Shukow (6th - 76.33) and Abby Kiefer (10th - 76.64).

• Xavier enters the BIG EAST Championships as th highest ranked team in the conference this season (ranked 97th nationally). The Musketeers have posted an average round score of 301.14. Seton Hall ranks second with a score of 304.78 and St. John's ranks third with a score of 305.13, respectively.

• Xavier has captured one team title this spring as they placed first at the Georgia State Tournament on March 29-30. The Musketeers also placed second at the UAB Tournament on March 15-16.

UP NEXT

• The winner of the BIG EAST Championships earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The four NCAA Regionals will be played on May 10-12 at the following locations: Baton Rouge, La., Columbus, Ohio, Louisville, Ky., and Stanford, Calif.

• The NCAA Championships will be held on May 21-26 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
