Xavier Athletics Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting For Heidt Family Champions Center

Facility is the new home for two-thirds of Xavier's student-athletes.

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University celebrated the official ribbon-cutting on Saturday for the Heidt Family Champions Center. The new state-of-the art training facility gives nearly two-thirds of Xavier's 300 student-athletes a one-stop location for sport-specific training, locker rooms, sports medicine and strength and conditioning.

The $14 million project, named for lead donors Dr. Rob Heidt, Jr. and his wife Julia Heidt, is the new centralized home for Xavier's Olympic sports.

The Heidt Family Champions Center is home for 60 percent of Xavier's student-athletes and nearly half of the department's staff and coaches. The men's and women's soccer teams, men's and women's swim teams, men's and women's cross country and track teams and the baseball team moved in earlier this spring but today marked the official opening celebration.
