Xavier Takes 4-2 Win Over Seton Hall to Stay Alive in BIG EAST Tournament

Musketeers will play Saturday at 4 PM against the loser of No. 1 UConn and No. 2 Creighton
CINCINNATIÂ -Â After a lengthy rain delay, Xavier baseball picked up an early-morning win to continue play in the BIG EAST Baseball Championship, topping the No. 3 seed Seton Hall, 4-2, to move on in the bracket.
In a game that was delayed to a 10:00 p.m., first pitch, the Pirates struck first, taking a one-run lead in the first inning. SHU held the lead until the fifth when Luke Franzoni drove in a pair of runs with a triple to put the Musketeers in front, 2-1.
The Pirates came back to tie it up in the bottom of the seventh, but the Musketeers responded in the next frame to retake the lead, 3-2. Xavier added another run in the ninth to secure the 4-2 win in the early morning hours of Saturday and advanced to play later in the day.
Lane Flamm picked up the win after going 7.0 innings in the start and Trey Schramm picked up the save in his school-record 100th appearance as a Musketeer.
Xavier moved to 26-25 on the season and now moves on to play in game 5, where the No. 4 seeded Musketeers will face the loser of game 4 between No. 1 UConn and No. 2 Creighton. Game 4 is set for noon, with the Musketeers scheduled to get started at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Sam Olson moved both runners into scoring position with a sac bunt, and Luke Franzoni hit a triple to right center to bring both runners in, putting Xavier ahead, 2-1.
8TH INNING |Â Jack Housinger hit a one-out double, then came home on single from Andrew Walker to put Xavier ahead, 3-2.
9TH INNING |Â Sam Olson took a one-out walk, and moved to second on a single from Luke Franzoni. Jack Housinger hit a double to left field to drive in Olson, putting Xavier ahead, 4-2.

- Luke Franzoni led the Musketeers with two RBI, both coming in on a fifth-inning triple. He finished 2-5 on the day and extends his on-base streak to 13 games.
- Jack Housinger (2-5) collected an RBI and scored a run after hitting a pair of doubles, bringing him to 16 for the year, one away from entering Xavier's top-10 for most doubles in a single season. Housinger has reached safely in 13 straight games, and has recorded hits in seven straight games.
- Andrew Walker (1-3, 1 BB) drove in an RBI in the eighth to put Xavier in front.

- Trey Schramm entered in the ninth, setting a new school record with 100 appearances as a Musketeer. Schramm faced the minimum, picking up his fourth save of the season and 13th as a Musketeer.
