Women's Soccer Extends Shutout Streak to Six with Draw Against Providence

Maria Galley ties the school record for individual shutouts; Musketeers remain unbeaten in conference play
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer picked up a sixth-straight shutout and remained unbeaten in BIG EAST action, playing Providence to a 0-0 draw on Thursday evening at Corcoran Field. Xavier moved to 11-2-4 overall and 5-0-3 in league matches.
Xavier held an 8-4 advantage on shots in the first 45 minutes, with two shots each for Ella Rogers and Emma Marcus to lead the Musketeers, but neither team scored to go into the half in a scoreless draw.
In the second half, Xavier had the 5-3 advantage on shots, including a look from Molly McLaughlin that went off the crossbar, but neither team had a look on frame to finish the game in a scoreless draw. Xavier's defense extended its shutout streak to over 600 minutes, and the Musketeers are now unbeaten in the last 10 matches.
Xavier returns to Corcoran Field on Sunday, October 23, hosting Creighton for Senior Day. The match with the Bluejays is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.

- Natalie Bain, Maddie Reed and Rachel Dewey played the full 90 minutes for the Xavier defense, helping Xavier to a sixth-straight shutout. The Musketeers now have 11 for the season, tying the 2000 season for the second-most team shutouts in a season in Xavier record books. The school record is 13, set in 2019.
