Xavier shut down Villanova with second regular-season win
VILLANOVA, Pa. - With the 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21) victory over the Wildcats, the Musketeers extend the series lead to 11-8. Xavier improved to 12-7 (6-4 BIG EAST) with the win, while Villanova fell to 6-16 (2-8 BIG EAST). The Musketeers handed the Wildcats two losses in the 2022 regular season.
• Brooklyn Cink led the Musketeers with 16 kills. The senior outside hitter has now achieved double-digit kills in her last two showings. Cink also managed nine digs and a block assist.
• Carrigan O'Reilly added 37 assists to her career total with the match sending the number to 2,895. The senior setter added an additional seven kills to her stats and shared the team high in block assists (3) with junior middle blocker Delaney Hogan.
• Along with the three block assists, Hogan hit for .562 (10-1-16) in the match and had the highest hitting percentage (min 10 attempts). The middle blocker also added a service ace to her stats for the match.
• Cink and Hogan were the only two members of the squad to reach double-digits kills with 10 for Hogan and 16 for Cink.
• Graduate middle blocker Angel Robinson had six kills on eight attempts and a hitting percentage of .625. Robinson also posted two block assists in the match.
• Sophomore libero Lucia Corsaro tallied up 14 digs in the match with junior defensive specialist Stevie Wolf following close behind with 10. The two were the only members of the squad to reach double-digits.
• Corsaro, Hogan, and O'Reilly each posted a service ace while senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck posted two.
• Xavier continues road play by heading to New York to square off with St. John's and Seton Hall on Oct. 28 and 29.
