Men's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season at Bellarmine Invitational

Musketeers set to compete with host Knights, as well as EKU and Lindsay Wilson
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis returns to Louisville to wrap up the fall schedule this weekend, taking part in the Bellarmine Invite running Friday, October 28 through Saturday October 29, at Bellarmine's Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.

 FALL RESULTS |
- Xavier was last in action at the the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, held at the University of Louisville and Bellarmine. Four Musketeers, Ryan Cahill, Kyle Totorica, Cambell Nakayama and Deacon Thomas, competed at the event.
- After falling in the opening round, to Kyle Tang of Bellarmine, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2, Ryan Cahill advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Consolation bracket, beating Aiden William of Butler 6-3, 6-0 in the first round and earning a bye in the second round. Cahill took a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win in the Round of 32 over Peter Kalocsai of ETSU and a 6-3, 6-0 win over Kristof Kincses of UT Chattanooga before falling to Harry Rock of Memphis, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6.
- Deacon Thomas fell in the first round of the main draw, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 to Patrick Fletchall of IU. He opened up play in the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Nil Moinet of Tennessee State, then advanced to the Round of 16 with a bye and a DQ. Harry Rock defeated Thomas 3-6, 6-1, 10-6.
-  Kyle Totorica fell in the opening round of the main bracket, 6-2, 6-2, to Mitchell Deames of Vanderbilt. then took a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ruben Emmerson Hiini of Southern Indiana, earning a bye to the round of 32, before falling to Memphis' Harry Rock 6-7 (3), 6-1, 10-5. Totorica also fell 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-8 in the play in draw to Patrick Joss of Butler.
- Cambell Nakayama fell 6-2, 6-2 to Andrew Steinbach of UofL in the first round of the main draw, then fell 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 in the first round of the consolation bracket to Jagger Saylor of IU. Nakayama picked up a 6-1, 7-6 (2) win over Kamil Kozerski of IUPUI.
- In doubles play, Ryan Cahill and Kyle Totorica fell 8-6 to Butler in the first round of the main draw while Deacon Thomas and Cambell Nakayama fell 8-3 to Tennessee State in the first round.

- Xavier returns nine letterwinners from last year's squad that advanced to the BIG EAST Semifinals for the first time since 2016 after earning the No. 3 seed, the program's highest seed in the BIG EAST Championship since joining the conference in 2013-14.
- The 2021-22 Musketeers finished the season at 12-9 overall, the most wins since the 2015-16 season.
- Among the returners are All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill, as well as Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming, Cambell Nakayama, Pascal Mosberger, Shashank Reddy, Nick Loudermilk, Aaron Thompson and Jake Zipoli.
- Xavier also added a trio of freshmen, Jorge Santamaria, Deacon Thomas and Kyle Totorica.
