The Musketeers clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2016

CINCINNATI - Xavier volleyball swept Providence 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17) for the second time in the 2022 season and sent the series lead up 14-4.

The Musketeers improve to 17-8 (10-5 BIG EAST) while the Pirates fall to 14-13 (5-10 BIG EAST).

Xavier clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2016 with the feat. In the 2016 tournament, the Musketeers finished as the runner-up after defeating Marquette in the first round and falling to Creighton in the championship.

NOTABLES

• Brooklyn Cink led the squad in kills with a total of 18 and hit for .571 in the match averaging six kills per set. The senior outside hitter narrowly missed a double-double with eight digs.

• The Pirates managed no blocks against the Musketeers

• Carrigan O'Reilly added an additional 36 assists to bring her career total to 3,082. The senior setter also managed the only block solo of the match, two service aces, six kills, and seven digs. O'Reilly hit for .500 in the match with six kills and one error on 10 total attempts.

• Four members of the squad put up service aces against the Pirates. Senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck tied her career high of four. O'Reilly posted two while Cink and junior libero Stevie Wolf each recorded one.

• Wolf posted the team high in digs with 13 total while Overbeck followed close behind with 12.

• Graduate middle blocker Angel Robinson tallied the team high of three block assists against Seton Hall. Sophomore outside hitter Anna Taylor posted two and Cink snatched one.

• Xavier will host St. John's on Sunday at 1 p.m. and will celebrate Senior Day
