Xavier Sweeps Final Weekend of Home Games

Xavier sweeps St. John's to finish the weekend 6-0 in sets
CINCINNATI - Xavier volleyball swept St. John's (29-27, 25-15, 25-14) to defeat the Red Storm for the second time in the 2022 season.
The Musketeers improve to 18-8 (11-5 BIG EAST) while the Red Storm fall to 17-12 (8-8 BIG EAST).
The squad celebrated the five seniors - Brooklyn Cink, Angel Robinson, Alyssa Overbeck, Carrigan O'Reilly, and Maryann O'Toole - after the victory.
• Angel Robinson led the squad in both hitting percentage and block assists in the sweep. The graduate was also the only member of the squad to have no hitting errors. The middle blocker posted six block assists, one block solo, seven kills, and two service aces.
• Anna Taylor also posted an impressive match with a .611 hitting percentage and three total blocks. The sophomore outside hitter posted 12 kills, two block assists, one block solo, and only one hitting error with 18 total attempts.
• Carrigan O'Reilly added an additional 38 assists to bring her career total to 3,120. The senior setter also managed four block assists, five digs, two kills, and one service ace.
• Four members of the squad put up service aces against the Red Storm. Senior outside hitter Brooklyn Cink led with three while Robinson managed two. O'Reilly and sophomore defensive specialist Lucia Corsaro each posted one.
• Junior libero Stevie Wolf posted the team high in digs with 16 total while senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck and Cink each managed seven.
• The team posted 22 total block assists with the total spread among six players. Robinson led with six, junior middle blocker Delaney Hogan posted five, O'Reilly managed four, senior outside hitter Maryann O'Toole recorded three, and both Cink and Taylor posted two.
• Xavier will travel to Marquette and DePaul next weekend to wrap up regular season BIG EAST play.
