NOTABLES
• Saint Francis was picked to finish fourth in the Preseason Northeast Conference Coaches' Poll after posting an 8-22 (8-10 NEC) record last season. Head coach Keila Whittington returns two starters from last season and welcomes six newcomers to the program.
• Aaliyah Moore leads the team in scoring (7.5) this year, while ranking second in rebounding (5.5).
• Adison Novosel has added 6.5 points per game, while Jade Campbell has added a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game.
• Saint Francis is only averaging 36 points per game this season, while allowing 70 points per game. The Red Flash are coming off a 91-36 road loss at No. 23 Michigan.

SERIES HISTORY

• Xavier leads the all-time series with the Red Flash, 2-0. The Musketeers won the last meeting between the two schools, 70-64, in Cincinnati on Dec. 31, 2003.

• Xavier won the first meeting between the two schools, 79-65, on Dec. 8, 2001 at Provident Bank Xavier Invitational.

LAST TIME OUT

• Xavier is coming off a 71-57 win over Detroit Mercy in the team's home opener on Nov. 10. The Musketeers have back-to-back wins to open the season for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

• Mackayla Scarlett matched her career high in scoring with 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting. She was also 6-for-6 from the foul line. She also had 19 points in the team's season opener at Miami (Ohio). The junior guard added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

• Courtney Prenger added 10 points, four rebounds and four steals. Aanaya Harris and Megan Harkey both chipped in eight points, while Taylor Smith finished with seven.

• Fernanda Ovalle added six points and a team-high five rebounds. The freshman guard chipped in three assists, two blocks and one steal.

• Xavier had 10 blocks and 10 steals in the game. The 10 steals are the most in a game since Feb. 11, 2022 at Creighton (13 steals). The 10 blocks are the most in a game since Dec. 8, 2021 vs Niagara (12 blocks).

• Xavier forced 18 turnovers, converting the miscues into 25 points. The Musketeers also scored 13 fastbreak points.

• The Musketeers hit 42.4 percent of their shot attempts (28-for-66) and went 13-for-19 from the foul line. Defensively, Xavier limited the Titans to a .356 field-goal percentage.

NOTABLES

• Xavier opened its season with an 87-68 win at Miami (Ohio). The 87 points are the most in a game for Xavier since Dec. 18, 2018 vs Alabama State (W, 87-58).

• The Musketeers made eight 3-pointers (8-for-11) at Miami (Ohio), the most in a game since Feb. 22, 2021 at Butler (9-for-30).

• Junior guard Mackayla Scarlett ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in scoring, averaging 19 points per game behind a .667 field-goal percentage (12-for-18). She averaged 0.6 points per game as a freshman and 8.1 points per game as a junior.

• Two other Musketeers are averaging 10 or more points per game in newcomers Kaleigh Addie and Taylor Smith. Addie is averaging 13 points per game with a .533 field-goal percentage, while Smith has added 10 points per game.

• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in three-point field goal percentage (.526) and ranks tied for fourth in total three pointers made (10). The Musketeers only hit 26 percent of their three pointers last season.

• Xavier also ranks second in the BIG EAST in blocks with 12. Kaysia Woods leads the team with four blocks.

ABOUT THE MUSKETEERS

• Aanaya Harris returns for her sophomore season after posting 9.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She added 52 assists, 23 steals and eight blocks.

• Aanaya Harris added a .463 field-goal percentage, ranking second among BIG EAST freshmen and 14th overall. Her 9.2 points per game also ranked third among conference freshmen.

• Senior Shaila Beeler led the team in assists (117) and steals (34) last season, while adding 8.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. The guard ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage (.805) and fifth in assists (4.0).

• Xavier also welcomes five newcomers: Taylor Smith (missed 2021-22 season with an injury), Nila Blackford (transfer from Kent State), Fernanda Ovalle, Bella Ward and June Ruiz Azkue.

SEASON OPENERS

• The Musketeers are 27-14 in season openers dating back to their first season as a Division I member in 1982-83. Xavier is 20-4 in season openers over the last 24 seasons.

• Coach Moore is 3-1 in season openers as the head coach of the Musketeers.

SCHEDULE NOTES

• The Musketeers will play five of their first six BIG EAST games at Cintas Center. Xavier opens its conference schedule on Black Friday vs Creighton who advanced to the 2022 NCAA Elite Eight.

• Xavier will play four games on national television: at Georgetown on Dec. 4 (FS1), vs Villanova on Jan. 1 (CBS Sports Network), vs UConn on Jan. 5 (SNY) and at UConn on Feb. 27 (CBS Sports Network).

• The BIG EAST Tournament will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., for the third straight season. The tournament will be held on March 3-6.

• Xavier will play nine non-conference games (two on the road, seven at home). The Musketeers will play teams from seven different conferences (MAC, Horizon, NEC, Sun Belt, Southland, OVC, AAC). Xavier will play three teams for the first time in program history (Old Dominion, SIUE, Eastern Michigan).

• Xavier will play seven non-conference home games, the most non-conference home games for the Musketeers since 2018-19 (nine games).

• The Musketeers have won 54 non-conference games over the last seven seasons with a 43-10 mark at Cintas Center.

XU BASKETBALL HISTORY

• Xavier has made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently advancing to the tournament's second round in 2011.

• The Musketeers' best NCAA Tournament finish was in 2001 and 2010 as XU advanced to the Elite Eight.
