Musketeers host Saint Francis on Saturday at 3 PM on campus

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis fell opened up a two-match home weekend with a 5-2 win over Eastern Illinois at Eastern Hills on Friday evening.

The Musketeers return to action on Saturday, hosting Saint Francis at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility at 3:00 p.m.

THE MATCH

In doubles action, the Panthers and the Musketeers split the first two decisions, with Xavier taking a 6-2 win on the No. 2 court for Brett Winters and Cambell Nakayama, while Diego Nava and Ryan Cahill fell 7-5 on court No. 1. Charlie Temming and Shashank Reddy picked up the deciding win on the No. 3 court, battling through tiebreakers to take the 7-6 (6) win and the doubles points.

Diego Nava made it a 2-0 Xavier lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win on the No. 1 court, moving to 8-0 on the season in singles play. Brett Winters won 6-3, 6-1 on the No. 2 court to make it a 3-0 Musketeer lead.

Caden Kammerer picked up the deciding point, winning No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-4 to set the score at 4-0 Xavier.

Xavier's final point came in a 6-1, 7-5 win on the No. 5 court Marco Pennelli to put Xavier ahead 5-0.

EIU picked up the final two points in three sets, taking a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 win on the No. 4 court against Charlie Temming and a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win on the No. 4 court against Ryan Cahill.
