Men's Tennis Heads to Orlando for a Pair of Matches

Xavier faces BIG EAST foe Creighton on Monday, LIU on Tuesday at USTA Campus
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis heads to Orlando, Fla., to take on a pair of opponents, taking a two-match win streak into a match-up with Creighton at 12:00 p.m. on Monday before facing LIU on Tuesday at the USTA Campus.
Following the trip to Orlando, Xavier (7-4) heads to East Lansing, Mich., where the Musketeers will face Niagara on Thursday, March 17 and Michigan State on Friday, March 18.

- Creighton is 4-4 on the season, topping Grand Canyon, Kansas Wesleyan, UIC and Chicago State, and falling to Nebraska, No. 2 Baylor, Air Force and Wichita State.
- The Bluejays are on a three-match win streak entering the match-up with Xavier.
- The Bluejays went 6-7 last season and 0-2 in BIG EAST play.

- LIU is 5-3 on the season, picking up wins over Siena, Sacred Heart, Binghamton, Merrimack and Queens College, and enter the match with Xavier on a two-match win streak. The Sharks have fallen to NJIT, Hofstra and Bryant.
- This is the first year the Sharks have sponsored men's tennis.
- This is the first match-up between the two programs.

- Xavier men's tennis closed out the weekend at 2-0, picking up a 5-2 win over Saint Francis at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility on Saturday afternoon.
- In doubles action, Xavier picked up the first decision on the No. 3 court, 6-2, for Charlie Temming and Shashank Reddy, and secured the point on the No. 2 court, with a 6-2 win for Brett Winters and Cambell Nakayama. Diego Nava and Ryan Cahill fell 6-3 on the No. 1 court.
- Caden Kammerer made it a 2-0 Xavier lead with a 6-3, 6-1 win on the No. 5 court, then Cambell Nakayama pushed it to a 3-0 Xavier lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win on No. 6.
- Charlie Temming picked up the deciding point, taking a 6-3, 6-2 win on the No. 3 court to make it 4-0 Musketeers.Â
- Marco Pennelli picked up the final point for the Musketeers, 6-1, 6-4, on the No. 4 court.Â
- SFU picked up the final two points in three sets, a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 win on the No. 2 court against Ryan Cahill and and a 7-5, 1-6, 10-6 win on the No. 1 court against Brett Winters.

 THE MUSKETEERS |
- The Musketeers returned eight letter-winners from last season, including Brett Winters, who competed primarily in Xavier's No. 1 singles spot, as well as regular singles players Cambell Nakayama, Shashank Reddy and Aaron Thompson. Dominic Macaluso, Pascal Mosberger and Jake Zipoli also return for Xavier.
- Xavier added five newcomers, including a three-person freshman class, Ryan Cahill, Marco Pennelli and Charlie Temming.
- The Musketeers newcomers also included a pair of transfers, Nick Loudermilk from College of Charleston and Diego Nava from Loyola Marymount.
