Musketeers use hiiting, pitching, and defense to topple Wright State
The fireworks started in the first with a three-run home run from the red-hot Tyler DeMartino. Wright State got one back in the second, but a two-run home run from Jack Housinger made it 5-1.
After a scoreless third, the Musketeers made up for lost time with a six-run fourth inning behind the strength of RBIs from Huntzinger, DePrey, Holtz and Helmin. Showing little mercy, Garett Schultz hit a sac fly in the fifth, and Jared Cushing homered in the sixth to cap off the scoring.
With the game well in hand, Wright State did chip away with three late runs, but Xavier comfortably won by a final score of 13-4.
Next up, Xavier returns to BIG EAST play as they host rival Villanova at Hayden Field on Thursday-Saturday. First pitch on Thursday is at 3:00 pm ET.

- Jeff Holtz went 2-4 from the bottom of the order, including a bases-loaded double to bring in three RBIs, and later scored.

- Connor Bailey started the staff day with 1.1 innings pitched and two strikeouts.
- Bryce Barnett finished the second and third inning, setting down all five batter she faced with two strikeouts.
- The fourth went to Xander Rojhan who only gave up one hit in an otherwise clean inning.
- Bobby Jones pitched the fifth inning, facing four batters without allowing a hit or a walk.
- Jonathan Kelly got the ball in the sixth, allowing one hit but also picking up a strikeout in a scoreless frame.
- George Eisenhardt came back after starting on Sunday to pitch the seventh inning today, and gave up two runs but got a strikeout.
- Jerry Huntzinger pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning and got strikeout.
- Lastly, Luke Hoskins allowed a run in the ninth frame.
