Men's Tennis Earns No. 3 Seed in BIG EAST Championship, Opens Play on Friday

Musketeers face No. 6 seed Marquette on Friday at 9 AM
CINCINNATI -  Xavier men's tennis earned the No. 3 seed for the BIG EAST Championship, the program's highest seeding since joining the conference for the 2013-14 season, and opens up play in the 2022 BIG EAST Championship against No. 6 seed Marquette on Friday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m. in Cayce, S.C.
The winner of the match moves on to a semifinal match-up with the winner of No. 2 DePaul and No. 7 Creighton on Saturday at 9 a.m.

- The 2022 BIG EAST Tennis Championships Presented by JEEP return to the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., from April 21-24.
- Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center will host the championship for the sixth consecutive year. The facility offers 30 lighted world-class courts with a championship-sized stadium court that has a viewing capacity of approximately 500 spectators. There are seven dedicated 38' courts for 8 & Under Tennis. Courts are complete with a small central gazebo, iced water coolers and electrical outlets on every court for ball-machine use.
- Seeds for the championships will be determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
- The Men's and Women's Championship matches will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) Presented by SoFi on FloSports. Live coverage of the Men's Championship will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET, while the live broadcast of the Women's Championship gets underway at 1 p.m.
- There is no charge for admission. Merchandise will be available for purchase through Shop.BIGEAST.com.

- St. John's earned the No. 1 seed after going 15-5 in the regular season with a 2-0 mark in conference play. The Red Storm will open action against No. 8 seed Villanova.
- No. 2 seed DePaul enters the match at 10-12 overall with a 5-0 record against BIG EAST schools. The Blue Demons open up action against No. 7 Creighton
- Xavier earned the No. 3 seed after going 11-8 overall and 3-2 against BIG EAST opponents. Xavier will open up tournament play against No. 6 seed Marquette, which they fell to 4-3 on Friday April 15.
- Butler is the No. 4 seed after going 12-10 in the regular season with a 3-3 record against the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs will face No. 5 seed Georgetown in the opening round.
- No. 5 seed Georgetown enters the tournament at 7-11 overall with a 1-3 record against the league.
- Marquette earned the No. 6 seed at 7-15 with a 3-4 record against the BIG EAST.
- Creighton earned the No. 7 seed after going 8-9 on the season with a 1-3 record against conference opponents.
- Villanova earned the No. 8 seed, entering the post season with a 3-14 record overall and a 0-2 record against BIG EAST Schools

- Diego Nava has played 15 matches in the No. 1 spot for the Musketeers, posting a 13-2 record, including a 1-0 record against nationally ranked opponents.
- Brett Winters has a 9-9 record for the season, with a 5-6 record in the No. 2 spot and a 3-2 record in No. 3. Winters has also recorded a 1-1 record in the No. 1 spot.
- Ryan Cahill has a 10-7 record for his freshman season, going 6-4 in the No. 3 spot. He also has a 4-3 record in No. 2 singles.
- Charlie Temming has collected seven wins so far in his rookie season, going 5-10 in the No. 4 spot, and also posting a 2-2 record in No. 3 singles.
- Marco Pennelli is 9-9 on the season in singles play, with six ofo those wins coming in the No. 5 spot. Pennelli also has a 2-1 record in No. 4 singles and is 1-1 in No. 6 singles.
- Caden Kammerer is 7-7 on the season, playing primarily in No. 6 with a 5-6 record, but also posting a 2-1 record in the No. 5 spot.
- Cambell Nakayama appeared in four dual matches, posting a 2-2 record, going 2-1 in No. 6 and also playing a match in No. 5.
- Pascal Mosberger has played three matches, picking up a win in No. 6 singles. He also appeared in the No. 4 and No. 5 spot during the dual season.
