Superb Pitching Pushes Xavier Past Pirates

Jack Lynch sets down final 13 batters in order
SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -Â Xavier evened the series with Seton Hall behind an incredible pitching effort from the duo of Lane Flamm and Trevor Olson. The pair combined to strike out 11 in a close battle with the Pirates.

Once again Seton Hall struck first, scoring one in the first. However, Xavier was ready to play as Ethan Hodge hit an RBI single in the second to tie the game. Jack Housinger kept the rally going as his two-rbi single gave Xavier the 3-1 lead. Seton Hall countered with a two-run inning of their own in the bottom half, and it was 3-3.Â
The score would remain for a long time as Trevor Olson finished his day with 4.2 innings and seven strikeouts, to yield to Jack Lynch hit set down the final 13 Seton Hall batters in order. For Seton Hall, it was an error in the eighth that allowed Jack Housinger to reach, and an RBI single by Tyler DeMartino that would allow him to make an acrobatic slide at home to score the eventual game-winning run.
Xavier wins 4-3.
The rubber match with the Pirates is scheduled to begin tomorrow at noon.
