CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer (2-0-1) continues its road stretch, heading to Muncie, Ind., on Sunday to face Ball State. First touch with the Cardinals is set for 1:00 p.m. and wil be live streamed through BallStateSports.com.

OPPONENT INFO

Ball State is coming off back-to-back scoreless draws to at Indiana and at Queens. The Cardinals opened the season at Kentucky, falling 3-0.
During the 2021 regular season, Ball State posted a 6-9-2 overall record and finished 4-5-2 in MAC play.
The Cardinals return MAC All-Freshman Team honoree forward Lexi Fraley.
Xavier is 3-3-2 all time against BSU, entering this season's contest on a two-match win streak after taking a 1-0 in Cincinnati in September 2021.

LAST TIME OUT

Xavier women's soccer remained undefeated to open the season, using a pair of second-half goals to erase a halftime deficit and take the 2-1 win over Louisville and move to 2-0-1 on the season.
The Cardinals were the aggressors on offensive in the first half, holding a 7-2 lead on shots in the first 45 minutes, including a look off a free kick that put Louisville up in the 25th minute, sending Xavier into the locker room trailing 1-0.
The Musketeers came out of the half on the offensive attack, taking four shots in the first minutes of the half, with Avery Lockwood finding the back of the net with a header, off a Rachel Dewey corner, to tie the game at 1-1 in the 52nd minute.
The match remained tied until the 76th minute when Maddie Reed found Simone Rivard-Roberts who drove to the edge of the box and shot a rocket to the upper left corner to give the Musketeers the 2-1 lead, which held for the final 14 minutes.
Avery Lockwood's game-tying goal in the 52nd minute was her first tally as a Musketeer.
Simone Rivard-Roberts' goal was her second of the season, both game-winners. She now has a team-high four points on the season.
Rachel Dewey picked up her first point of the season on an assist on Lockwood's goal.
Louisville finished with a 12-9 advantage on shots overall but each team had six looks on-frame.
Xavier had a 5-3 advantage on corners.
Maria Galley picked up her second win of the season, allowing one goal but collecting five saves to keep the Cardinals off the board in the second half.

GALLEY NAMED TO HONOR ROLL

Following a pair of shutout performances in goal over the weekend, freshman goalkeeper Maria Galley was named to the first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the 2022 season, the league office announced on Monday.
Galley, originally from South Windsor, Conn., played the full 90 minutes in both of Xavier's matches last weekend, collecting six saves for a pair of shutouts and a 1-0-1 record.
In Xavier's 1-0 win over WKU, Galley collected four saves to keep the Hilltoppers off the board in her collegiate debut.
She followed that up with a pair of saves against Ohio to help Xavier stay undefeated with a scoreless draw.

MCLAUGHLIN ON HERMANN LIST

Women's soccer graduate student Molly McLaughlin was among the 61 NCAA Women's Division I college soccer players named to the 2022 Hermann Trophy Watch List by United Soccer Coaches.
McLaughlin, a midfielder from Granger, Ind., is coming off her third all-conference season as a Musketeer, earning a spot on the 2021 All-BIG EAST First Team and the USC All-East Region First Team, as well BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors. She was voted to the 2022 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team by the league's coaches.
Last season, McLaughlin totaled 1,664 minutes in the midfield for the Musketeers, helping Xavier to a school-record 16 regular season wins and 10 shutouts. McLaughlin finished with three goals on the season, a pair coming in BIG EAST play, with one game-winner, against Marquette.
The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

2021 SEASON

The Musketeers finished the 2021 season at 16-3-1 overall, setting a new school record for regular season wins (16). The Musketeers went undefeated in the non-conference portion of the home schedule, winning seven straight matches to open the season and playing Bowling Green to a draw to move into conference play at 7-0-1.
Xavier went 9-1 in conference play, winning program's second BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and earning the opportunity to host the league Semifinals and Finals at Corcoran Field.
The Musketeers earned a program-best ranking in both the United Soccer Coaches Poll (No. 11) and the RPI (No. 7) last season.
Last season, Xavier earned the program's first at-large bid and home match in the NCAA Tournament.

THE MUSKETEERS

The Musketeers return 23 letter-winners from last fall, including All-BIG EAST First Team honoree Molly McLaughlin, BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Ella Rogers, and All-Freshmen Team members Chloe Netzel and Shelby Sallee.
Xavier's returners account for over 80 percent of Xavier's goals last season, including Xavier's top six goal scorers in Netzel (6), Emma Marcus (4), Sallee (4), Rogers (4), McLaughlin (3) and Mathilde Rasmussen (3).
Netzel led the Musketeers last season with 14 points total, Marcus and Salle each added 11 for the Musketeers.
The Musketeers adds 13 newcomers, including four transfers and a nine-person freshman class.
Xavier enters the season ranked No. 24 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason poll after finishing last season at No. 19, and also open up the 2022 season ranked No. 21 by Top Drawer Soccer.
Xavier was selected to finish second in the BIG EAST Coaches poll, collecting a pair of first place votes.
All-conference honorees Molly McLaughlin and Ella Rogers were named Preseason All-BIG EAST by the league coaches.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Xavier continues its four-game road swing next week, traveling to Chicagoland for a pair of matches, facing Loyola (Ill.) on Thursday and Northwestern on Sunday.
The Ramblers, coming off a 13-3-2 season where they made a fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament after winning the Missouri Valley Championship.
Loyola was picked to finish third in the program's inaugural Atlantic 10 season, placing three on the A10's Preseason All-Conference Team.
Those selected include last season's Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year Abby Swanson, MVC Player of the Year Megan Nemac, and All-MVC Second Team selection Alain Abel.
The Musketeers are 5-3-1 against the Ramblers after taking a 2-1 last season in Cincinnati.
