
Chloe Netzel Knocks in Game-Winner in the Final Minute at Loyola Chicago

CHICAGOÂ - No. 19 Xavier picked up a third-straight win, scoring the game-winning goal in the final minute to take the 1-0 win at Loyola-Chicago on Thursday evening. Xavier remains undefeated, moving to 4-0-1 on the season.
The Musketeers held the advantage on offense in the first half, holding a 5-1 lead on shots in the first 45 minutes, with a 2-0 lead on looks on frame, but neither team found the back of the net to go in to the half scoreless.
After the half, Xavier continue to hold the advantage on shots, outshooting the Ramblers 11-2 in the second 45, but the game ticked down to the final minute, still knotted up 0-0. In the closing seconds of the match, Molly McLaughlin got the ball on the left sideline in Xavier's attacking third, playing it to herself then crossing to Avery Lockwood in front of the goal. Lockwood tapped the ball to Chloe Netzel on the right side of the box and Netzel shot low from the edge of the six-yard box for the game-winner.
Xavier's defense, with Maria Galley in-goal and Natalie Bain and Maddie Reed anchoring the backline for the full 90 minutes, picked up the its third shutout of the season, limiting Loyola to three shots overall without a look on-frame.
The Musketeers remain in the Chicago area for the next match, traveling to Northwestern on Sunday, September 4 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
