Musketeers record a weekend sweep after a 3-0 victory over Hoyas

CINCINNATI - The Musketeers swept their BIG EAST opening weekend with 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-10) win over the Hoyas. Xavier improves to 9-3 (2-0 BIG EAST), while Georgetown falls to 2-11 (0-2 BIG EAST). Xavier now extends the lead in the series record to 16-2.

NOTABLES

• Hunter Fry achieved a career-high of six block assists in the sweep. The junior middle blocker also tallied four kills and hit .800.

• Carrigan O'Reilly added 36 assists to bring her career total to 2,574. The senior also posted four kills and two block assists. The setter also recorded her 22nd career double-double with the 36 assists and 10 digs.

• Outside hitters Brooklyn Cink and Maryann O'Toole shared the team high of 11 kills each.

• Cink recorded her first Xavier career double-double with the 11 kills and 13 digs which was also the squad high.

• Four members of the Musketeers reached double digits for digs with Cink taking the lead with 13, O'Reilly and senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck each posting 10 and sophomore libero Lucia Corsaro recording 12.

• The team tallied up 15 block assists: Fry (6), O'Toole(3), O'Reilly (2), sophomore outside hitter Anna Taylor (2), junior middle blocker Delaney Hogan (1) and Cink (1).

• Cink also recorded three of the six services aces for the squad with Corsaro posting two and O'Reilly tallying one.

• Xavier will travel to Omaha, Neb. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 to take on No. 22 Creighton at 7:30 p.m. ET.
