Women's Tennis Opens Spring at Penn State on Saturday

Musketeers and Nittany Lions face off 12:00 p.m.
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis opens up the 2021 spring season at Penn State on Saturday, January 14Â at 12:00 p.m. at the Sarni Tennis Center in University Park, Pa.
Following the match with the Nittany Lions, Xavier opens the home schedule on Friday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m., then travels to Notre Dame on Sunday, January 22 at noon.

- This is Penn State's first match of the season.
- The Nittany Lions went 11-13 overall last season with a 5-6 record in Big Ten play.
- Penn State fell, 4-3, to Minnesota in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
- Xavier faced PSU last season, falling 4-0 at Eastern Hills.

 FALL SEASON |
- Xavier wrapped up the fall at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional where the Musketeers combined to collect 18 wins and were one of four schools among the 24 schools competing to have more than two student-athletes advance in the Main Singles Draw.
- Abigail Siminski advanced to the Round of 16 in the main singles draw, collecting wins over Ball State's Jessica Braun, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, and Vanderbilt's Marcella Cruz, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, along the way. Kat Lyman advanced to the Round of 32, picking up a 6-4, 7-5 win over Monique Woog of Memphis. Imani Graham topped Indiana's Lauren Lemonds, 6-0, 6-2, in the first round of the Main Singles Bracket. Abby Nugent also advanced to the Round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Emilia Alfaro of ETSU.
- With all brackets combined, the Musketeers collected 15 wins in singles play.
- The duos of Imani Graham and Kat Lyman as well as Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski also took part in the Main Doubles Draw. Xavier's doubles teams collected three wins during the tournament.

- The Musketeers wrapped up the 2022 spring season at 14-10 overall, brought home the program's third overall and second-straight BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's third bid to the NCAA Championships.
- Five letterwinners return from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including All-BIG EAST selection Imani Graham, Kat Lyman, Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Bella Kirby.
- Xavier also added four-person freshman class, Emily Flowers, Paulina Franco Martinessi, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski.
