Women's Tennis Travels to Dayton, Miami (Ohio) this Weekend

Musketeers face Flyers on Friday at 5 PM, RedHawks on Sunday at 4:30 PM
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis heads out on the road for a pair of matches, taking on Dayton and Miami (Ohio) this weekend. The Musketeers face the Flyers on Friday, January 27 at 5:00 p.m., the wrap up the weekend on Sunday, January 29 at 4:30 p.m. in Oxford.
Following the match with Miami, Xavier will next be in action on February 11, traveling to Bloomington, Ind., to face the Hoosiers, set for a 11:00 a.m. start.

- The Flyers are 0-1 after falling 5-2 to Miami on Jan. 22.
- The Flyers went 9-13 overall last season, with a 2-2 record in A10 play.

- The Musketeers split last weekend, taking the win over NKU before falling at Notre Dame, to move to 1-2 on the season.
- Xavier opened up the home schedule with a 7-0 sweep of the NKU Norse at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
Xavier took the doubles point, with a 6-1 win on the No. 2 court for Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk, and a 6-3 win on No. 3 for Emily Flowers and Paulina Franco Martinessi. - Imani Graham picked up the win in the No. 1 singles spot, 6-0, 6-1. Abby Nugent took a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles spot.
- Abigail Siminski took No. 3 singles, 6-2, 5-7, 10-4, while Blessing Nwaozuzu won the No. 4 court, 6-3, 7-5.
- Emily Flowers picked up the win in the No. 5 spot, 6-2, 6-1, and Paulina Franco Martinessi battled in tiebreakers for a two-set win 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) to complete the sweep.
- Against Notre Dame, the Musketeers fell 7-0.Â
- In doubles, Emily Flowers and Paulina Franco Martinessi fell 6-1 in the No. 3 spot and Notre Dame secured teh point in tiebreaks on the No. 2 court, topping Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk 7-6 (3). Kat Lyman and Abby Nugent were leading 6-5 on the No. 1 court when the point was decided.
- Imani Graham fell 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 1 singles court. Kat Lyman competed in No. 2 singles, falling 6-0, 6-1.
- Abby Nugent took No. 3 singles to three sets, falling in the first set 7-5, before taking the second set 6-1. She fell 10-4 in the third.
- Abigail Siminski competed in the No. 4 spot, falling 6-2, 6-2. Anna Roggenburk played No. 5 singles, falling 6-1, 6-3 and Blessing Nwaozuzu play on court No. 6 falling 6-2, 6-1.

- The Musketeers wrapped up the 2022 spring season at 14-10 overall, brought home the program's third overall and second-straight BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's third bid to the NCAA Championships.
- Five letterwinners return from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including All-BIG EAST selection Imani Graham, Kat Lyman, Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Bella Kirby.
- Xavier also added four-person freshman class, Emily Flowers, Paulina Franco Martinessi, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski.
