Musketeers take on players from NKU, Dayton and Ball State

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis opens up the 2025 Fall schedule this weekend by hosting the Xavier Invitational at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The event runs September 20-21, and features players from Ball State, Dayton and NKU in addition to the Musketeers, playing in a hidden dual format.

Admission and parking are free. Matches will be played on courts 19, 20 and 22-31 and parking is available in the South Lot.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Abby Nugent and Clara Owen, the No. 40 ranked doubles team in the ITA Preseason Rankings, earned a spot in the main draw doubles draw of the ITA All-American Championships. The pair get underway on Wednesday, September 24, in Cary, N.C.
The full squad will next be in action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, hosted by Tennessee. The event is set to run from Oct. 16-21 in Knoxville, Tenn.

THE MUSKETEERS

Xavier returns eight players from last season's BIG EAST Championship winning squad, including senior Abby Nugent, a 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, and 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Madeleine Rexroat.
Sophomore Clara Owen, who partnered with Nugent as one of the top doubles team in the country, returns, as well as seniors Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers, juniors Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato, and sophomore Natalie Smitek.
The Musketeers added freshman Ella DeFord, a five-star recruit from Mount Pleasant, S.C., to the roster.
Xavier finished the 2025 dual season at 14-9 and won the program's fifth-straight and sixth overall BIG EAST Championship, earning the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Championships.
