Abby Nugent and Clara Owen Compete at the ITA All-American Championships

No. 40 ranked duo earned spot in main doubles draw
CARY, N.C. - Xavier's women's tennis' No. 40 ranked doubles team of Abby Nugent and Clara Owen took part in the ITA All-American Championships this week after earning a spot in the main draw.
The pair open up play on Wednesday, Sept. 24, taking on the No. 1 ranked pair of Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton of UNC Chapel Hill in the doubles main draw. Nugent and Owen fell, 6-2, 6-2, in the opening round.
The duo then faced Savannah Dada-Mascoll and Naledi Manyuve of Appalachian State, the No. 52 ranked doubles team, on Thursday afternoon in the Consolation Bracket Round of 16, falling, 6-2, 7-6 (6).
The full squad returns to action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, hosted by Tennessee. The event runs from Thursday, Oct. 16 through Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Knoxville, Tenn.
