Swimming Heads to Fishers, Ind., for Butler Invite

Xavier one of nine schools taking part, starting on Sunday at noon.
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will travel to Fishers, Ind., to take part in the Butler Invite, set for Sunday, January 29 with events starting at noon.

   INVITE NOTES |
- This season's meet will include Ball State, Hillsdale, Youngstown State, IUPUI, Eastern Illinois, UIndy and Valpo, in addition to the Musketeers and the Bulldogs.
- Last season, the Musketeers swept the event on both the men's and women's side, combining for 32 top-three finishes.
- Xavier's women won three events to collect 824 points, topping second place by more than 100 points.
- The Musketeer men collected three event wins as well, totaling 780 points to top second-place UIndy's 747 point total

 WEEKLY AWARDS |
- After collecting four individual first place finishes, and seven event wins total, in two meets last weekend, Olivia Oyster was named the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.
- Oyster, a freshman originally from Delaware, Ohio, swept the freestyle sprints against Cincinnati, taking first in the 50 free with a time of 24.00, and then taking the 100 free with a time of 52.09. Against UC, she also helped Xavier to a first place finish in the 400 free relay, swimming the first leg, and second place finish in the 200 medley, swimming the freestyle leg.
- Against Bellarmine, Oyster took two more freestyle wins, taking the 100 free in a time of 52.66 and the 200 free in 1:54.98. She also helped Xavier win a pair of relays, swimming freestyle in the winning 400 medley relay and the first leg of the winning 200 free relay.

- Xavier's men topped Bellarmine by a score of 173-88 last Saturday.
- Jon Bernard, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson opened the meet on the men's side with a win in the 400 medley relay, setting a time of 3:24.39.
- Andrew Martin won the a pair of events, winning the 100 free with a time of 47.12 and setting a time of 9:32.53 in the 1,000 free to place first.
- Jon Bernard won a pair of events, taking the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:44.04 and the 200 breast with a time 2:05.27.
- Davis Klein swept the breaststroke events, taking the 100 back with a time of 52.49 and the 200 free with a time of 1:55.13.
- Roark Lundal won the 100 breast with a time of 58.01.
- Jack Parker led the Musketeers in the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.06, placing third.
- Kyle Hudson led Xavier in the 50 free with a time of 21.79, placing second.
- Nathan Wall won the 500 free with a time of 4:44.16 and lead Xavier in the 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:06.32 to place second.
- Aiden Leamer led the Musketeers in the 100 fly, placing second with a time of 50.79.
- Aiden Leamer, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson and Andrew Martin won the 200 free relay to close the meet, setting a time of 1:25.63.

- Xavier's women took the 187-74 win at Bellarmine last Saturday.
- Kali Fischer, Clare Bosse, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay, setting a time of 3:57.26.
- Emma Swabb took the top spot in the 1000 free with a time of 10:50.32.
- Olivia Oyster won a pair of events, taking the 100 free in 52.66 and the 200 free in a time of 1:54.98.
- Brooke Atkins won the 100 back with a time of 59.69.
- Julianne Libler led the Musketeers in the breaststroke, placing second with a time of 1:07.32 and third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:31.69.
- Sophia Romero took the top spot in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.79.
- Kali Fischer's season best time of 24.40 in the 50 free was good for first place.
- Charlie Ramey won the 200 back with a time of 2:09.27.
- Alexis Worrall won the 500 free with a time of 5:16.57.
- Hannah Pugh took first in the 100 fly with a time of 58.00.Â
- Emily Guerrera's time of 4:48.40 led the Musketeers in the 400 IM, placing second.
- Olivia Oyster, Molly Dynda, Sophia Romero and Kali Fischer closed the meet with a time of 1:37.35 to win the 200 free relay, leading three Musketeer squads in the top three.

- Xavier travels to Miami (Ohio) for the final meet before the 2023 BIG EAST Championships.
- The Musketeers take on the RedHawks on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1:00 p.m.

 XAVIER MEN |
- The Musketeer men are coming off a second-place finish at last season's BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. Xavier collected six event championships and had 10 Musketeers earn all-conference last season.
- Nine of the 10 All-BIG EAST honorees return for the 2022-23 season. Andrew Martin earned the honor in six events and Ethan Saunders earned the honor in five events.
- Jon Bernard, Gage Hannewyk, Joey Mullen, Jack Parker, Will Serad, Nathan Wall and Ethan Wing all earned All-BIG EAST last season.
- The Musketeers added three transfers, T'Lez Foulkes from Howard, Seth Kibler from Florida Institute of Technology and Aiden Neuman from Penn State.
- Xavier also added a five person class of newcomers, Matthew Adanin, Ben Dupree, Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer and Jonathan Mason.

- The Musketeer women return nine All-Conference performers from last season's third-place finishing team at the BIG EAST meet.
- Among the returners is Kali Fischer who earned All-BIG EAST in five events. Alexis Worrall and Clara Keiser also earned all-conference in multiple events.
- Molly Dynda, Erin Merke, Erin Ritz, Emma Swabb and Reese Turner all earned All-BIG EAST last season as well
- Xavier's women added four to the roster for the season, transfer Charlie Ramey who joins Xavier from Vermont, and freshmen Emma Amon, Olivia Oyster and Sydney Smith.
