Makel Rasheed Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK - Makel Rasheed was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The senior defender earns the honors for the first time this season.

Rasheed led Xavier to a 4-0 win at UConn on Oct. 28 as the Musketeers captured the Midwest Division and earned the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. He scored his second goal of the season in the 23rd minute, the game-winning goal in the match. The Rockville, Md., native logged 81 minutes and helped Xavier post its sixth shutout of the season.

Rasheed and the Musketeers play host to No. 13 Akron the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 4. First touch is set for 7 p.m. from Corcoran Field.
