
Pascal Mosberger and Ryan Cahill Set to Compete at ITA National Fall Championship

Pair advanced to the Semifinals of the Ohio Valley Regional to earn trip to Nationals
SAN DIEGO - Xavier men's tennis duo Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger compete in San Diego, Calif., taking part in the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center. The event began on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at noon ET and runs through Nov. 5.
Cahill and Mosberger opened up play on Wednesday aftenoon, taking on Zach Fuchs and Wally Thayne of Brigham Young. The Musketeers batteld to tiebreakers in the second set, but fell 6-4, 7-6 (5).
The Musketeers moved on in the consolation bracket, taking on Nic Wiedenhorn and Anton Shepp of Nebraska, falling 6-3, 6-1.

The Fall Championships are the grand finale to the fall collegiate tennis season and feature 64 of the nation's top collegiate singles players (32 men and 32 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men's team and 32 women's teams). Players qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships through the ITA Regional Championships, ITA All-American Championships, Milwaukee Tennis Classic, as well as the ITA Cup.
The ITA National Fall Championships take place from November 1-5. Players will play one round of singles and one round of doubles each day, with a complete back draw also being played out for players or teams that lose on the opening day of play.Â
The pair are the first Musketeers to compete at the competition, which is in its seventh season. They earned the trip after advancing to the semifinals of the main doubles draw of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in October, taking an 8-6 win over Nice/Batchelor of Bellarmine, an 8-5 win over Ross and Lopez De Azcona of Vanderbilt, and an 8-3 win over Donnett/Rodrigues of Louisville to get to the quarterfinals.
To wrap up ITA Regional action, the pair picked up a win over Ondrej Horak and Marcel Kamroski of MTSU in the quarterfinals, 8-4, before falling in the semifinals, 7-5, 6-4, to Pablo Alemany and Charlie Barry of Memphis. The pair collected seven wins in fall action, including going 3-0 at the Youngstown State Invite.
