LAS VEGAS - Three Musketeers hit double figures, led by a season-high 20 points for Gytis Nemeikša, but Xavier men's basketball fell to Washington, 74-71, in Continental Tire Main Event at T-Mobile Arena on Friday evening. Xavier moved to 2-2 on the season.
The teams traded leads for the first 10 minutes of the game before a 9-2 Xavier run gave the Musketeers a two-possession advantage, 19-14, with just over nine minutes remaining in the half. Xavier built the lead out to as many as nine in the first half before going into the break leading 37-30. Gytis Nemeikša led Xavier with 12 first half points and Desmond Claude added 10.
Xavier led by nine after hitting the opening basket of the second half before Washington chipped away at the Xavier advantage, eventually using a 9-3 run to move in front 51-50 with just over 12 minutes remaining. The teams would trade leads over the next four minutes before back-to-back Washington three pointers gave the Huskies a five-point lead, UW's largest of the game. Washington never relinquished the lead, with Xavier falling 74-71.

- Desmond Claude finished with 19 points, going 7-of-8 at the free throw line. Claude also grabbed seven rebounds.
- Quincy Olivari finished with 13 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
- Xavier finished with a 52-42 advantage on rebound, including a 17-13 advantage on the offensive glass, but the Huskies were able to outscore Xavier 19-8 on second-chance points.
