Women's lacrosse announces the third signing class since the program was unveiled in 2021
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's lacrosse introduces the third signing class of the program, which will add nine new Musketeers to the roster for the 2025 season.
Morgan Handzel is a midfielder from Woodstock, Georgia where she attends Blessed Trinity High School.
At Blessed Trinity, Handzel is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete, and has led her program to three consecutive state championships, posting a 58-5 record from 2020-2023. In 2020, she was tabbed as the State Championship MVP. Following the 2023 season, Handzel was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Player, a 2023 USA Lacrosse All-American, and an All-State First Team selection. She's taken over 680 career draw controls with a 65% success rate during her first three years of varsity action.
Handzel plans on majoring in marketing at Xavier. She is the daughter of Kevin Handzel and Tracy Morgan, and has one sibling, Kacy. Mother, Tracy, ran track and field at Cortland, father, Kevin, played football at Springfield, and sister, Kacy, played lacrosse at Wooster and club lacrosse at Cincinnati.
Logan Jones is a defender from Naples, Florida where she attends Barron Collier High School.
At Barron Collier, Jones is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete with two years as team captain. As an athlete for the LaxMania club team, Jones was tabbed as a 2022 Under Armor 150 Defender, 2022 Florida American Select Defender, and 2021 South Under Armor Command Team Defender. She was a participant in the All-American Senior Game and was a member of the 2021 Gulf Side National Team. She earned All-Conference honors in 2021 and was two-time Watchlist Defender and one-time Apex 60 All-Star Defender.
Jones plans on majoring in engineering physics at Xavier. She is the daughter of Kimberly and Blake Jones, and has two siblings, Avery and Skyler. Father, Blake, played four years of college football and two years of collegiate lacrosse, and mother, Kimberly played one year of collegiate tennis.
Cemary Chavez is an attacker who specializes in the draw from Los Angeles, California where she attends Qualia: The School for Deeper Learning.
For her club lacrosse team, LA Select, Chavez was a two-time American Select California team member, earned IWLCA Player of the Match honors four times, and was the recipient of the 2021 Harlem Lacrosse Doc O'Connor Leadership Award.
Chavez plans on majoring in special education at Xavier. She is the daughter of Marycruz Diaz and Cesar Chavez, and has two siblings, Samantha and Vicente. Her sister, Samantha, plays lacrosse for Ohio Wesleyan.
Lilly Cameron is an attacker from Monroe, Connecticut where she attends Masuk High School.
At Masuk, Cameron is a dual-sport, five-time varsity athlete. She is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete and played one year of varsity field hockey. During her time on the lacrosse team, she led the program to two Class M Quarter Finalist finish and one Class M Semi Finalist finish. She earned an All-State selection, was First Team All-SWC, was named to the Conn. Rising Stars Team, and became the seventh all-time leading scorer for Masuk with her 114 career goals.
Cameron plans on double majoring in psychology and forensics at Xavier. She is the daughter of Amy and Walt Cameron, and has one sibling, Liam. Her father, Walt, played Ice Hockey for Rhode Island.
Lily Villaflor is a midfielder from Westborough, Massachusetts where she attends Westborough High School.
At Westborough, Villaflor saw eight seasons as a varsity athlete, as a three-sport athlete in lacrosse, soccer, and indoor track. She is a two-time lacrosse team captain that contributed 98 goals and 182 draw controls during her lacrosse career. In 2022 and 2023, she was a Mid-Watch All-Star First Team selection and was a 2023 MetroWest Athlete to Watch. As an athlete for the Central Lacrosse club team, Villaflor was a member of the 2022 Mass./R.I. National Championship Team, the 2022 American Select Mass. Team, a 2022 Under Armor 150 selection, and a 2021 AUPro Futures selection.
Villaflor plans on majoring in nursing at Xavier. She is the daughter of Liz and Noel Villaflor, and has one sibling, Caiden.
Cameron Yard is a midfielder who specializes in the draw from Downinton, Pennsylvania where she attends Downington High School East.
At Downington, Yard is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete, where she was tabbed as a 2023 Philly Girls' High School Scoring Leader, All-Area Daily Local News Second Team selection, and an All-League Ches-mont Second Team selection. She led her team to 2022 and 2023 district championships and state appearances. As an athlete for the Philly Blast club team, Yard was tabbed for the All-America Lacrosse Philadelphia Girls' Highlight Team, 2022 USA Lacrosse National Tournament Team, and the 2022 Athletes Unlimited Futures Pennsylvania Team.
Yard plans on double majoring in business and sport management at Xavier. She is the daughter of Michelle and Christopher Yard, and has two siblings, McKenzie and Lauren. Her father, Christopher, played golf at Eastern Kentucky.
Maya Graham is a midfielder and attacker from Middletown, Maryland where she attends Saint John's Catholic Preparatory School.
At St. John's, Graham is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete, and saw two years of varsity soccer. She led her team to an undefeated season and a IAAM-B championship for lacrosse, She is a three-time IAAM All-Conference selection, an All-County First Team selection, and has earned academic high honors for a 4.0 GPA four times. As a Top 5 scorer in the IAAM conference, she led her program in assists (41) and goals (25) in the 2023 season.
Graham plans on majoring in biomedical sciences at Xavier. She is daughter of Lisa and Donald Graham, and has two siblings, Evie and Corey.
Brynley Hodge is a midfielder and attacker from Fair Oaks, California where she attends St. Francis High School.
At St. Francis, Hodge is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete and was named the 2023 Player of the Year after an All-Delta League First Team selection and setting the school single season record in goals.
Hodge plans on majoring in engineering physics at Xavier. She is the daughter of Catherine and Christopher Hodge, and has one sibling, Elijah. Her father, Christopher, played club lacrosse at UCSD, and her brother, Elijah, played lacrosse at Rockhurst.
Brooke Kelly is a defender from Marietta, Georgia where she attends Marietta High School.
At Marietta, Kelly is a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete, earning All-American, All-Area, and All-State selections during the 2023 season and she became the program leader in goals and assists.
Kelly plans on majoring in biomedical sciences at Xavier. She is the daughter of Michelle and William Kelly, and has two siblings, Lauren and Trey.
