Baseball Drops Season Opener, 3-2, at No. 20 Oregon

Ethan Bosacker threw six strikeouts and allowed one run in 7.0 innings of work
EUGENE, Ore. - Xavier baseball dropped its season opener, 3-2, at No. 20 Oregon on Friday night at PK Park.
With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Owen Diodati hit a walk-off, sacrifice fly to left field - scoring Rikuu Nishida to give the Ducks the season-opening victory.Â
The Ducks struck first by scoring a run in the first inning before the Musketeers tied the game in the third inning on a solo home run from Carter Hendrickson. Xavier tacked on a run in the fifth inning and led by one-run until the eighth inning.
The Ducks tied the game, 2-2, in the bottom of eighth inning before scoring the game-winning run in the final frame.
The four-game series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3:05 PM ET.

- Andrew Walker and Matt McCormick were the only other Musketeers with a hit in the game.Â
