Abby Nugent Named BIG EAST Tennis Singles Player of the Week

Freshman picked up win over No. 125 player in latest ITA Rankings
NEW YORK - After picking up a win over a ranked opponent, Xavier women's tennis freshman Abby Nugent was named the BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week.
Playing from the No. 3 spot, Nugent captured the first ranked win of her collegiate career, defeating No. 125 Ines Oliveira of James Madison in straight sets (6-4, 6-1). Nugent's victory on the singles court was supplemented with a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles with teammate Kat Lyman as Xavier narrowly defeated James Madison, 4-3.
The Musketeers are set to travel to Michigan State to face the host Spartans and Illinois State next weekend.
